8 year old models as adult

Don't know if this was the right place to post this, but it scared the crap out of me.

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/com...55E662,00.html

This is an 8 year old girl, made up like a 'heroin chic' model. Her parents have stated that they have no problem with people seeing her as a sex object.

Has the whole world gone insane? This poor child is 8 and herstupid parents are OK with tarting her up like this?

I'm feeling vaguely ill after reading this.

Nisses 08-11-2003 08:08 AM

"I'm very proud of her," he said. "If you go through life worrying about what people think, then you're not going to have a happy life. "

I can't agree more really. I mean, I wouldn't worry about the person I shot with my gun or what his family might think of me, that could mean I wouldn't be happy anymore. I couldn't possibly worry about what people think of me for running a red light, because other than endanger people, I can't think of any reason why I shouldn't be happy and ignore it.
Hell, I can't possibly pass up on the opportunity to milk every cent out of my little daughter, just because it might screw her up or make people comment on my behaviour, that would make me not happy.

Seems to me like the idiot is talking about himself mostly, every quote of his goes past the article and is about something else.

eg.
"If there's someone out there who has a sickness, I can't control that. That's up to the police to handle. "

Nobody is talking about pedophiles, they're talking about the fact that *he* is the morally twisted fuck in this. Somehow, that got past him

Sex symbol aged eight
By DORA TSAVDARIDIS and BRAD CLIFTON
10aug03

THIS is fashion model Morgan Featherstone. She is blonde, seductive . . . and eight years old.

With her long tresses, heroin-chic eye makeup and sexy stare, Morgan presents like any other magazine model, except on her birth certificate.
The Brisbane schoolgirl works for her father's adult modelling business, Women Model Agency, and is hot property among Asian businessmen, keen to use her "look" to advertise their products.

But, while her parents have defended their decision to allow Morgan to pose as an adult in front of the cameras, leading agencies and psychologists say it is unhealthy and dangerous.

"I don't agree with an eight-year-old being sold as an adult," Peter Chadwick, of Chadwick's Model Agency, said yesterday.

"A kid like that hasn't even gone through puberty and doesn't have boobs. It's strange to be portraying an eight-year-old as a developed adult."

Morgan's mother, Amy Dean, believes there is nothing wrong with allowing her daughter to be viewed as a sex object.

"I can't help that, if people walking down the street think that. I have no control over what other people think," Ms Dean said.

"There's nothing wrong with being made to look older. She doesn't look like a little girl, so she doesn't get picked for that.

"I don't think it has a real effect (on her). She's very level-headed."

The 145cm, blue-eyed, primary school pupil began modelling when she was six months old, in a dairy company commercial. She is now in Year 4 and models part-time.

Morgan's father, Darrell (addendum: please note birth certificate records show Morgan Featherstone's father's name as David Benjamin Featherstone) Featherstone, said his daughter was "better off competing for the older stuff" because it paid more.

"She doesn't get booked for eight-year-old stuff," he said.

"She'll dress herself up, depending on what (shoot) she's going for. No one cares how old they are, as long as they get the shot."

Mr Featherstone is no stranger to controversy.

In 2000, he was charged with extortion in Brisbane for allegedly secretly videotaping a young woman and her mother performing sex acts on him.

He maintained yesterday the charges had been dismissed before the case reached trial, due to a lack of evidence.

Discussing his ease at having his daughter portrayed as a sex symbol, Mr Featherstone was unconcerned.

"I'm very proud of her," he said. "If you go through life worrying about what people think, then you're not going to have a happy life.

"If there's someone out there who has a sickness, I can't control that. That's up to the police to handle.

"I don't think she looks old, I think she looks beautiful."

A recent full-length body shot of Morgan, taken for a Taiwanese client, was destined for the Asian advertising market. The client personally selected her for a series of "lifestyle shots".

Psychologist Dr John Irvine said yesterday it was not healthy for a child to be consistently projected in a way that was beyond her years.

"That can cause confusion . . . see what happens to the Hollywood child stars. They've all said they have trouble adjusting," Dr Irvine said.

"When you're older, your ego is developed and you can take on roles. Children are what the world tells them they are."

The last uproar over the use of schoolgirl models was in 1999, when David Jones used a nine-year-old girl wearing make-up on the cover of a catalogue.

The department store defended the picture, saying it was never their intention to create a Lolita-style look.

Kids follow stars' raunchy fashions

GIRLS as young as 10 are losing their innocence by trying to emulate raunchy pop stars, according to family groups.

Stars such as Christina Aguilera and Kelly Osbourne are leading a fashion revolution that is influencing young girls.

Raunchy dressing is commonplace, with girls as young as 10 wearing short skirts and midriff tops.

Australian Family Association national vice-president Bill Muehlenberg said fashion was stripping children of their innocence.

"Let's let kids be kids and not push them into the adult world too soon," Mr Muehlenberg said.

"Let them enjoy being 10."

Trend forecaster Neil Henson said the trend for young girls to wear midriff tops was being driven by their pop star idols.

"They see their favourite pop stars in magazines and video clips, and just pick up on so much media," Mr Henson said.

"They copy those looks meticulously, and it's really their first sense of freedom. Ten-year-old girls today are that much older, in terms of life experience, than they used to be.

"They are starting to rebel and express their freedom at a much younger age."

These people are really messed up if you ask me. Its disgusting that they're allowing her daughter to do this...

I agree. All i need to know is that she is 8 years old and being veiwed as a sex object and i know that its just completly wrong.

remiel 08-11-2003 08:44 AM

It just makes me furious that anyone can be this callous as to the evil shit they're doing to their child. Way to rob your kids' childhood, idiots!

bender 08-11-2003 08:49 AM

W.T.F. !!!
... I am at a loss for words.
This is just so messed up....8 years old...
W.T.F next ... it's just sad.

txgirl 08-11-2003 04:20 PM

Now this is a prime example of parents taking advantage of their child for their own financilal status!!!

ktthequeen 08-11-2003 04:48 PM

I'm sick of the 'heroin-chic' look.

Yes. Let's sell products portraying people as drug addicts. And like it.

Not to mention she's a fucking child. When I was eight? I was all about playing at the park and rollerblading.

Jesus.

World's King 08-11-2003 05:05 PM

That's just fucking sick.

DEI37 08-11-2003 05:49 PM

I agree that this is definitely twisted. Sick fuck. Now, as a father of a three year old, I sure can't see my daughter like that in 5 years. Not even 15 more years. This little girl is a cutie, and looks older than 8 in the pic the news link shows. Of course, that doesn't make it right...in fact, it almost makes it worse.

Zargix 08-11-2003 06:09 PM

thats fucked up!

rl33 08-11-2003 06:11 PM

This is the kinda people (parents) that should be forbidden to breed.

Hash_Browns 08-11-2003 06:12 PM

grrr! I also have a three year old and and 18 month old...and that right there is freaking wrong...did you know somewhere out there they sell thongs for 10 yr. olds too...it's old news...but still freaking gross!!

I trully feel for that little girl and hope someone steps up to the plate to keep her head as level as mommy and daddy says it is :( And if you ask me...he is a pediphile from what I read...just because there was a lack of evidence...GROSS!!

Makes me sooooo mad!

muckluck 08-11-2003 06:26 PM

Whats next child porography?

HamiC 08-11-2003 06:34 PM

When I see girls like this, I have a hard time telling whether or not I am simply getting old or if there is something different about young girls today.

I'll tell ya.....when I go to the mall or the movies, it scares the heck out of me to think that someday, I might have a daughter that looks older, is more physically developed, and acts wilder than anything I remember from my childhood. Right now, my wife and I have only a son, which is scary in its own way, but as a father of one and hopeful future father of others, this stuff is scary.

IMO, that pretty much IS child pornography.

clockworkgreen 08-11-2003 06:38 PM

She's hot....

....I'M KIDDING!!!

Tex 08-11-2003 06:42 PM

...thin line...

 :o

Tex 08-11-2003 06:44 PM

I do however find it appalling that they can make an 8 year old look like that. Honestly, if it weren't that it actually said she was 8, I would think she was 13 or so. It's really quite sad, too, because that girl should be learning her times tables and not parading herself (whether she likes or dislikes it) as some sort of "8 year old sex symbol"

Tex 08-11-2003 06:48 PM

...and to even further that, what the hell IS AN 8 year old sex symbol? Pardon the blatenness, but I don't think there are too many 8 year olds masterbating to her picture. You KNOW there is some sick 50 year old fuck out in the middle of nowhere getting off to her picture, and that is the harsh truth. How can her parents let her do this knowing the kind of world we live in today?

Man, this kinda stuff really pisses me off. It's just not fair to the girl.

happy_joy 08-11-2003 07:29 PM

Im my opinion that is not at all acceptable for someone that young

The_Dude 08-11-2003 07:39 PM

it's sad how much parents make their kids do stuff like this.

StormBerlin 08-11-2003 09:27 PM

I dont really know what to say... This kind of goes with the teen prostitution story in another thread. Kids are in so much of a hurry to grow up, and I'm sure this girl is loving it. She doesn't understand that there are some sick ppl out there that don't see her as "cute". I hope her parents get a rude awakening really soon.

bettaa 08-11-2003 09:40 PM

Call me a Conservative bastard but a child of 8 has no buisness modeling as a "sex symbol". It is down-right raunchy. Although probably nothing can be done, it should be strongly discouraged, i mean what sick fuck would dress their 8-year-old daughter up in slutty clothes and then slut her up even more with makeup....pshhhh

HeadyIncognito 08-11-2003 09:45 PM

Thats horrible. I thought that the Aussies were the only sane ones left, aside from the rampant racism.

rogue49 08-11-2003 09:47 PM

Goes back to that whole Jean-Benee Ramsey thing.

Kids are kids, adults are adults
Let's not mix these up

Let's let them have their childhood.

BrinlyNoya 08-11-2003 09:57 PM

mildly related: I heard that like.. 10 year olds were having sex.. is this possible?

totally related: So, it should be illegal to call/sell her as sex-symbol. Someone needs to be off legal age to have sex in order to legally be a sex symbol. IMO...

HeadyIncognito 08-11-2003 10:10 PM

Anything's possible. A better question is WHY WOULD THEY?

crafty 08-11-2003 10:10 PM

10 year olds in some parts of America are having sex, yes.

Kids mature a lot faster, sure it's disgusting, sure I lost my virginity at 18 years old.. but kids are still doing it.

Some of the households that kids grow up in are purely disgusting, and the parents don't care. Kids learn about things and if they see no consequenses then they will do it.

fuzzix 08-12-2003 04:39 AM

bloody sickening

jimk 08-12-2003 04:50 AM

it's a slippery slope from what i'm about to say to an orwellian nightmare, but here goes:

some people clearly should not be allowed to raise children.

sexymama 08-12-2003 06:41 AM

Look at her eyes -- cold and sad! I would NEVER allow my 9 or 7-year-old daughters to loose their innocence at such a young age. Her father is a SICK SICK man!

GSRIDER 08-12-2003 06:55 AM

Granted the rapid development of children is scary. And to think my son at 11 y/o wants to call his "girl friend" every evening.

s8ins child 08-12-2003 07:27 AM

Wrong Wrong and Wrong! Its just sick and peverted if u ask me!

I have a ten year old niece who is full into puberty...so I guess it would be possible. My sister had to start giving her "the talk" at about eight when she started to develop.

water_boy1999 08-12-2003 08:22 AM

I am disgusted by this article. The father is so self absorbed I don't ever think he will understand the ramifications of his actions.....well, maybe in 10 years when his daughter is a school dropout, druggee, prostitute, and has a total lack of respect for societal norms, will he understand what he did was wrong.
