New Mobile Phone
I recently acquired my step-sisters old mobile phone (a Nokia 8310), hurrah I said to myself I can get rid of my old 3310 (which I've had for so long now there's enough dead skin in the cover [I try and clean it I do!] to build a fresh me). Anyway I start playing around and have two little problems (well not problems)
a) no composer (bastard Nokia owners I liked my ringtones) b) no screen saver (really annoying I've a picture I designed myself that says "Warning drunken James may not represent actual real James" which I love) So is there any way around these problems? I've been speaking to a mate of mine and if I get an IR transmitter or my PC I can get the Nokia software to put in my own ringtones, but what about my picture how do I show it? I've been able to send it myself (sent it to my gf who mailed it back to me) but as for ringtones her phone won't let her send them (and why would she want to keep uncle fucker on her phone). Now I managed to get one custom ringtone my using my Nokia 3310 sending the ringtone to myself then quickly removing the battery, but this method is very hit and miss. So anyway my question is "Are there any decent Nokia forums about?" I googled it but it's like searching for mp3 or Britney spears everybody and their mum has a Nokia site and therefore all I get is pay ones that are rubbish. Also does anyone have experience with getting an IR transmitter for their PC, I know carphone warehouse sell one but I’m guessing that any IR port will do. Thanks

Nokia as most other mobile phone companies allow the phone to be connected using your PC's serial port.
That's how I connect my 6210. It indeed allows you to send messages, manage your address book and the like. I'm not completely sure about ringtones as I hate the damn things so I've never looked in to them. The same goes for screensavers (mine doesn't support them I think) The connection cord and software is available from the Nokia brand (just ask your local retailer), but at least around here there are also generic cords/software. Another option is IR (InfraRed) but its no favorite of mine... too many drawbacks. Anyhow, good luck and let us know your progress! EDIT: someone should invent a language without spelling issues... /sigh/

All this confounded technology is just too much for me. What's next? A psychic cell phone that can predict a call 5 minutes before you get it and tells you to call them first?
