How many hours a day do you spend on the computer?

...AND HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?

I posted a thread in tilted entertainment asking how long people could go without T.V. and quite a few people said they could go without T.V. for a while but not the internet. So here's this poll.

From surfing the net, to listening to music, to doing homework, to programming, how many hours do you spend at a computer total during an average day?

Considering carpal tunnel, eye strain, lack of sun (unless you use a computer outside), lack of sleep, lack of food (unless your computer is edible), lack of exercise (unless you run with your computer), etc. is it a bad thing to spend too much time at youre computer screen?

Could you go without a computer/internet (except to post at TFP, of course )?

How long could you go without one?

Whenever I get bored, I hop on the computer. So I probably average 8 hours a day. :P

Yeah I know, I'm pathetic. But I think the more pathetic thing Is that I actually find things to do for that much time every day o_O.

I'm on my computer quite a bit, i would say around 7 or 8 hours a day. I don't think i could go that long without using the computer. I might be able to last a few days if i absolutely had to.

During the week about 5 to 7 hours. Mostly at night when I'm home. The weekend can be much higher if it's shitty outside.

edit: I've been on my PC about 15 hours today. I think about 8 hours of that was playing UT2K3. It was raining this morning so I didn't even bother going outside.

over 12 hours a day. I work at home on the computer. I play at home on the computer. I look for a better job at home on the computer. My computer is set up so that by looking slightly to the left I can refocus from the monitor to the TV.

I said 7-12 hours. Its actully somewhere between there and 2-7. If you don't count work then its probably about 4 to 5 hours a day.

I use the computer 6 to 8 hrs a day at work (and I'm considered the best engineer on a computer in our company), and I like to come home and have fun on one (games, message boards, etc.). I draw the line at spending time on the computer though when it interferes with my family time hence I'm usually on at home very late at night after the wife and kids have gone to bed.

'll put in 8-12 a day, with 8 of those being whilst at work. Since the original poster didn't specify whether or not it was work related I assumed it was.

8-12 hours a day, with some days reaching up to between 16 and 20.

That's what you get for working with a team globally distributed between the US, Australia and Europe... you have to be awake all the time!

8 hours while working
then get home and check comics, boards, and sites for a total of 1 hour or more. Then I get to chatting and/or playing games for another hour or more. Then checking the boards again, then maybe some Divx movie or episode, or in the unlikely case of something decent being shown on TV, I go watch that

Let's see 8 to 8.5 hours at work, Then 2-4 hours at home. Plus with the TV tuner in the PC at Home I can watch TV and work on the computer all at once. I think I can live with out the TV.

I think. I don't want to try to find out though....
