anyone from NJ or NY sick of paying 5 dollar plus for a pack of cigs? try this

a fax came over at work today from a web site called Why not smoke.com might be to good to be true...but u can get a carton of marboro reds for 17.95....i think the catch might be you might end up have to pay taxes on it.....but i havent figured out how....

if the company is only changing u 17.95 no tax plus 2 bucks shipping and handling i dont know how the govt would collect the tax....

i know its actually illegal to buy cartons of cigs in say virgina and bring them up to NJ but i really dont see how they would enforce this..

I will tell you the trick. Those cartons are duty free (like the ones you buy at the airports). They are ok, but differ from the ones you buy at the store (flavor wise). Usually the 'smokes' are made in Geneva, Switzerland, and are shipped from Mexico. Delivery time is 3-4 weeks. So, if you make an order every week, it might work. I tryed it once, but it took 5 weeks to get the order. So, i decided to cut down on my smoking, but buy the original marboro's.

Damn Slash -- I thought we were onto something.... I live close enough to Virginia anyway $$22.00 for a carton of Marlboro. But try to buy that same carton in Maryland -- $40.00 -- Where's the logic there?

I'm with Jadzia on this one folks. Definitely a good way to save money.

If you're looking to save money, just think of all the money you'll save on medical bills and funeral costs by stopping smoking now. What's a better investment than life?

(yeah yeah, I know, you've heard it before... I'll be polite and leave you to your cigs now)

Why would you care about funeral costs?? You'd be dead and wouldn't give a shit anyways, lol

Because not everyone likes to leave their family in the lurch with ye olde "oh my god it's going to cost HOW MUCH?!? to bury you? "

just toss my body in the ocean when I'm dead, that way, no vandal can come & pee on my grave or maul my ... erm, stone plate that's above the coffin-thingy.

edit: TOMBSTONE, that was it

anyway, yes, that whole thing does work, and it will take you a while to get the smokes. Best thing is to have a friend that's a trucker and who makes stops in Mexico from time to time. I believe it's legal to bring 1 or 2 cartons across the border per person (you'll have to check the exact number though)

I do not remember the website, but I will post if I do.

The website was oversea - some European company selling cartons to ship to USA via credit card, camel lights were $12 for a carton, and they had all the name brands here.

A friend of mine ordered a carton and the boxes were a different color.. I don't know if you know what a pack of camel lights looks like, but there is no blue.. these had a primarily blue color scheme but otherwise looked the same. The cigarettes however were very different tasting. I didn't think they were bad, and they were well worth the $12, but it took 2 weeks for the shipping and you could only order 2 cartons at a time, so you had to plan it ahead..

something along the lines of smokefree or freesmoke or something.. but I can vouch that it's not a BS site and yes they DO send the cigs

$5 for a pack of fags? what are you complaining about? thats sooooo cheap. In England it costs nearly £5 which i guess is nearly $8 or something....petrol (or fuel i guess ) costs even more....around 80p a litre at the moment...so over twice the price of what u pay in the states!

Don't think u smokers in the states should complain to much! But then again the grass is always greener....

I'm not a smoker, but if you want to be a slave to the tobacco manufacturers, that's your business. When I was in high school (a very long time ago) some friends used to drive to a nearby indian reservation to get their gags. The indians would sell the cigarettes tax free. Does anyone know if they still do?
Heh, they probably tore down the cigarette stores to put up casinos.

Someone has to smoke to fund the government with all those taxes. Otherwise they will take more of my pay. I love that there is no smoking in NYC bars now though!

Keyser Soze will be playing the role as ASSHOLE on this thread

Now G5_Todd started this thread for members in his area that were tired of paying high prices for their habit, offered an alternative, and asked a simple question........(heres where the role of asshole kicks in)

WHY....do those of you who don't smoke consistantly on every post that contains the word smokes, or a post for smokers have to ALWAYS.....always post the word quit??

If he wanted to quit the thread title would have been, Need help in quitting smoking.

Yes....I smoke, and I enjoy it and will enjoy it till the day I DIE!

I don't drink and know it's effects on peoples lives and the pain it can bring upon a family, yet when I see a post related to drinking I don't post the word QUIT.

Most smokers know it will kill us with the exception of the dumbasses who sued the cig companies we all know 100 people who have told us to quit, that smoking will kill us.

Do you actually think that if we read your QUIT SMOKING in a thread we will suddenly quit??

Go ahead and call me an asshole if you wish or think of me as an idiot smoker but one thing for certain is that when you post the words QUIT SMOKING, most smokers think of you as the assholes for trying to subject us to your OPINIONS on smoking.

Now I know most of you will say.........awwwww the hell with it....I'm beating a dead horse.

Have a blessed night

Taxes have already been paid - Cigarette companies (from memory) have to account for all cartons manufactured - they pay the Tax on each packet before it leaves the company shed.

They don't - unless you happen to be trying to move a truck load of them one would suspect.
