tonsils are a simple operation,
all you will have is a sore throat.
No worries
I had mine out back when I was a child,
and adults are no problem too.

Hey, if I can have all of my wisdom teeth pulled at once at 34,
then your tonsils are a piece of cake.

I dont know if ppl still read this one..but My throat has been sore ..more like the back of my mouth is sore. I dont know exactly what tonsils look like, and where exactly they are positioned, but I believe its my tonsils. Correction-tonsil. Something to the side of that dangly thing (ulna?-memory from highschool) of them is sore, swollen, and a little red.. I think there could be a cyst too. My throat has this lump in it..like an enlarged lymph node. My aunt told me it could arise from just infection/viruse. Do you think a walk in clinic would check it out for me. I havent had a GP for a long time and I dont know if those kind of dr's check up peoples throats and tonsils.

mew, it does sound like what you're seeing is an enlarged and inflamed tonsil. The swollen node in your neck would go along with the inflamed tonsil in your throat. A walk in clinic would be a perfectly appropriate place to get it checked out.

Yikes, I got it checked out and I went to this walk in clinic. I couldnt wait to make an appt. so, without looking at my throat or touching my forhead, the woman just said I had Strep Throat. I never had anything seriouse like that before. Just a cold or flu. Well Im almost done my 4x a day Penicillin for 10 days perscription. Walk in clinics are so "get you in get you out so I can get more patients and more money". But at least Im cured.

had my tonisls out ago now when i was a kid....well ok only about 11 years ago! but don't remember any pain or discomfort afterwards.
but remember all operations are minor until they are on yourself!
good luck fallen angel!

I had them out at age 4. I remember getting to eat all the ice cream I wanted, but nothing much about pain. I could be blocking it all out, though.
