Imagine if white students decided they wanted to go to a whites-only, public-funded school....

This is absolute hypocracy for the degenerates on the left and should not have ever been done.

okay, i don't mind gay people or even a gay person marrying another gay person, but a gay highschool? That is ridiculous, how did the city council pass this experiment to separate kids that are gay from kids that aren't. And yes at 14-17 your still a kid.

Here's what some people wrote in after reading this article. Some I agree with and some I don't.

Cool! Does this mean we can now feel free to separate the students according to "sexual orientation"?

Can we now have all-straight schools funded by the taxpayers so that our straight children won't have to be exposed to the "gay" students flaunting their "lifestyle choices"?

B. Faler

I think that it is more than appropriate to quarantine "gay" students in schools exclusively for them. Preventing contamination of the heterosexual masses by "gays" is an admirable political and social agenda.

It is also appropriate to adhere to the religious admonition regarding "lead us not into temptation," which means to avoid those persons and places who might tempt us into sin, into abandoning the path of righteousness.

Any suggestion that homosexuality (a moral sin) is normal human sexual expression degrades moral standards. It is not – and has never been – the goal for free people in free countries to become the Sodom and Gomorrah of the 21st century.

Max Effort

Doesn't this also go contrary to Justice O'Connor's thinking that the schools need diversity?

It seems that liberals are the ones "turning back the clock" on civil rights with the announcement that New York City is opening a full-fledged high school for "gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students" – the first of its kind in the nation, and probably not the last.

I thought liberals opposed "separate but equal," but here we have them advocating a school for teen-agers based on their sexual orientation at an age when they shouldn't be having any sex of any kind.

Daniel John Sobieski

_____________________________

Although I am against "gay segregation" or any type of "segregation," this school may in fact provide an invaluable opportunity to test my social-science theory regarding higher levels of intelligence found in the "gay" community – I can't wait to see what the average SAT scores are for this high school.

It may end up being one of the most desirable schools in New York, such that heterosexuals may end up suing in order to be admitted on the grounds that to not let them into this school is "anti-straight" discrimination.

Jon Rowe

_____________________________

So, the New York City public school system is opening a "gay-only" high school, and the liberals (including the masquerading mayor) think it's a grand idea whose time is long overdue. Can you imagine the uproar of liberal indignation if a public school system tried to open a "straight-only" school? Chalk it up as yet one more example of bald-faced liberal hypocrisy, I guess.

Greg Orman

Welcome to the United States of Depravity! "Gay" is a word that means happy – not "I'm a sex pervert." There is a reason they chose to usurp this word – it gives the false cover that they are normal, happy, content. Hogwash to the extreme ... This moral cancer is eating the soul of America alive.

Probably because he/she isn't gay enough...

What about bi-sexual highschoolers? Can they attend the gay highschool?

If the school has both gays and lesbians, it might be a fun place to be bisexual...

If bi's are not allowed, how do you enforce it? "...I'm sorry, Jim, we're going to have to expell you. We found pictures of you with... a girl!!!"

actually i dont really see how they could get this passed.. Civil rights are for races.. this is a life style.. they are gonna spend 3mil in a school for a lifestyle.. a public school? give me a fukin break..

They should have taken that money and given it to kids that need help getting through college.. not a bunch of whine asses that cry out due to injustice.. You dont see the nerds that get beat up cry out for a school.. nor do you see the stupid asking for a eaiser school.

They should do what most people do.. keep their lifestyles to themselves..

the question I must ask is this..

Even if they are straight.. wtf would they care about being "sexual active" or what not.. you should only be in school to learn to make a life for yourself.. and plan for the future.. after that is down should you then try for a relationship.

There is no other excuse for this..

you try telling me that love at frist sight bullcrap.. ill laugh in your face and tell you there is no such thing..

Ill will however tell you I do believe in Lust at first sight.

All I see is yet another group of bleeding heart liberials crying out milking the gov't outta money needed for other things. Just to make several people happy.

Damn gotta love the american dream.

In my eyes they are all the same bull*. gay people is todays black people, some hate them and others fear them simply because they don't understand them. In' my not so humble opinion that is the most ignorant position anyone can take.

To separate gay students from hetrosexual students is simply a clear statement from the goverment that gay people is not equal to hetrosexual people.

That is bound to create problems both for the goverment and for the students of the school. Nothing good comes from ignorance and intollerance.

Thing is, people are making statements about gay kids being divided from straight kids and so forth. Bear in mind that this is a school that only has room for 140 people. Also bear in mind that this isn't a new thing. The Harvey Milk School has been around since 1984, it's just that this is the first time it gets public funding.

I think it's a bad idea for several reasons, but if someone really feels they can't go to a reular school because they are tormented for their sexuality, it could be a valid choice. That's my 2 cents anyway

the school? It used to be funded entirely by the Hetrick-Martin Instritute (HMI). Now it also receives some funding from the New York Board of Education.

That's all I know

we also have schools where gay kids specifically aren't allowed. Namely military schools.

Forget the idea of free will for a moment. Because being gay has nothing to do with free will. NATURALLY, man is NOT attracted to the SAME sex ever! This has been proven by animals. Have you ever seen a gay cat? Have you ever seen a gay dog? Maybe in cases where they can't differentiate between the two. But this is an idea the white man has placed in the minds of people. It is not right to be gay. It is not right to be lesbian. Though I strongly believe in this, this does not mean I hate these people or automatically deem them not human. Because each person has a different attitiude, personality, thoughts, feelings etc. to make them who they are in their own way regardless of sexual preference. In plain terms, being gay is unnatural.

There are still others though who will pursue this and say: What if I don't prefer women, I hate them. They're mean & nasty....yadah yadah. Believe it there are men who feel this way AND aren't even gay. I say to you take up a life of CELBACY. As far as making a high school for gays?! That's crazy! Children are not at the sound age to make that distinction that they are gay and willing to be that way for the rest of their lives. I can see 17 or 18 year old's deciding this but not freshmen or sophmores. They haven't even lived long enough to lose their virginity. This also bad as in terms of being exposed to this concept at too early an age. What the fuck is next? A gay middle school? A gay ELEMENTARY school? A gay PRESCHOOL?!?!

In all honesty, I would like to meet a gay man who was not feminish. Why is that? To be a gay man you must possess feminish qualities? That is absurd. Then are supposed to have "queer" voices, act womenly, giddy, and once again use that obsence accent whenever they talk?? "Ohhhh, be nice!" More and more this sounds like a woman in a man's body! Though, it is because of this information of being self-aware, "male" and "female", that they adopt this mentality. Animals do not know they are "male" nor do they know they are "female" they just know they are alive.

i agree with Halo here. it's wrong to take public funds to fund a private school (it is private...this is segregation all over again)

I agree with politician Long, too: do they want to make schools for other groups of students that, stereotypically, get picked on??

I would have to agree with this. If homosexuality were natural, aka. genetic, the gene that controls it would never get passed on, thusly making it go out of the population.

On the topic of the school, this to me is just proof that the government us focusing too much on accomidation, and not letting enough assimilation take place.

Ya, I don't think separation is a good idea... Sure they get picked on, it should happen, but hopefully it'll slowly get better. Seperating them just doesn't sound like it will fix the problem though.
