work

Coming back to work from lunch moderately buzzed (not shit-faced) is a pretty good feeling. work just doesn't seem as bad as usual. at least i seem to be a bit more productive.
anyone feel me on this?

cookiezzz 07-23-2003 11:11 AM

....no. That whole "I would get fired for being pissed at work" thing, ya'know. :D

Ishamael 07-23-2003 11:23 AM

Ever tried to program while you're wasted?

...yeah...

Cynthetiq 07-23-2003 11:24 AM

i've been at places where people did work better after their 6 pack at lunch.... and they handled 12" cutting blades....

it's not for me.. i get paid for mental capacity... not incapacity.

Ishamael 07-23-2003 11:25 AM

All depends on what job you hold, I guess

micah67 07-23-2003 01:10 PM

It's pretty cool when the boss (and president of the company) orders the pitchers of beer...

Absolutely, it's the only way to code. After a drunken programming session my code is usually utterly obfuscated and completely unreadable, but it also works for some reason. I manage to invent all kinds of neat tricks and workarounds that I never would have thought up while I was sober.

Definately depends on who I'm with and what situation. During the summer the Friday Afternoon Lunch (notice the caps) is a routine, but I rarely go now, one because I'm seen as Management and for me it makes the afternoon drag.
I would rather go an hour earlier claiming I had no lunch than sit in the office for four hours on a "thirst".

You, my friend, are my god.

We go out lunch a lot, and many times I'm tempted to enjoy a beverage or two, but then I remember how crappy I feel later in the afternoon.

flamingpeach 07-24-2003 08:23 AM

most of my friends are bartenders...its hilarious to wander in and find them wasted serving drinks. :D

There's a lot to be said for that. During my undergrad days I used to write code for assignments with a bottle of red next to me. In the morning you go back and debug and add (intelligible) comments. I's a good system if you can get it to work.

Nisses 07-24-2003 09:45 AM

Taliesin: I have done so before as well, just that I spend twice the time figuring out how I made afterwards :)

usually the "// dunno how it works, but let's leave it" is in there, at the start of my coding :D

Taliesin 07-24-2003 10:19 AM

Heh. Yeah - I recognise that!

ex druggie

i've been to work before on no sleep with a gram still in my pocket. fucking miserable.

i have this weird perspective now of thinking how i used to function & how uncomplicated things are now that i am clean.......

still am aware of people using around me, doesn't make me jones, just sad.

Ralvek 08-05-2003 05:37 PM

I'd get fired so fast....err wait, i've gone to work drunk from the night before on several occasions....interesting...guess i still have a job

aintyoboyfriend 08-05-2003 06:12 PM

I have done this a few times, but I am in sales, and I spend a lot of time sitting around or surfing the net at work. If I do go out at lunch and get flogged, I make sure to drink Vodka, as it is the "no tell" liquor.
