cell phones ftw

Guilty as charged! Why is it so unacceptable to just be waiting, or walking, or just taking a break? Why do we have to act like we're the most important person in the world, no time to notice the world around us? |
i really have a problem with people who feel the need to answer a jangling cell phone, thus interrupting our conversation. i don't even answer the regular phone if i'm having conversations with students at school; if the call is that important, the person will call back later. i tell the kids, "what's more important, you or the ringing telephone?"

I agree! I really hate trying to have a conversation with someone who is feverishly texting!
And as an English Teacher the abbreviations that slips into formal papers would be almost humorous if it wasn't so sad. But what do you expect I see billboards with "lol" and other phrases all the time. |
Cellphones are the most annoying technology in the last 50+ years.
Fostering rude behavior from incredibly self involved individuals that think their inane conversations are more important than driving or paying their bill at the cash register. Don't even get me started on the idiocy of texting. Two people using phones to type messages to each other. Hate them. Which explains why I have 2 I suppose. One for work and one for personal use. |
It's not the phones, it's the people.
For the most part, people lack common sense and common courtesy. Texting for me is an important communication tool. I use it when I don't want to get involved with a phone call. I'd rather send a text saying "please get milk on the way home from work" or "please feed the cat." Texting is a low priority message that can be looked at with minimal distraction. I personally don't use texting shorthand, absolutely hate it with a passion. |

I don't have a cell phone, and I don't want one. I feel that people have lost the ability to actually communicate face to face. I have watched people sit in the same room and text each other, but the minute they had to actually talk to each other they had no idea what to do.

(While watching my sons one day)
Little devices, meant to keep us connected, coming between us. (I think this might also apply to televisions & computers & video games, etc., as well as to cell phones.) |
^^^^^
"Little devices, meant to keep us connected, coming between us." Wow  When I have a guest, all phones are put on ansaphone. My mobile is only used for emergencies and times I'd have formerly sought out a telephone box. |
what does "ftw" mean in the OP?

You are all whiny technophobes, especially the person raging against texting.

Cellphone lost its meaning. Nowadays as I see phones is just small laptops which you can put in your pocket with unlimited data plan. I do really hate cellphones, even my work is related to telecommunications (mostly with Blackberry phones)... :(

cellphones are just things and it shouldn't be blamed. people are the ones who are responsible for making such devices. and we are the one who are using it. technology is good if we are going to use it in good means.
