What's with google that you like?
It's not that I wonder why people like Google so much compared to other search engines. I just wanna know what specific feature draws you much more to google? For me I like the search results a lot.
|
I like the recipe search function. I also like that I can add boolean logic qualifiers to the search parameters (try doing a search for "winning" while excluding anything that mentions Charlie Sheen, for example). Oh, there are many more.
Microsoft has a history of screwing its customers and I cannot trust that they don't do the same thing with Bing. I like Wolfram Alpha, but then again I deal with math equations often and sometimes seek very technical responses. Did I mention voice search for Google on my cell phone? |
I stopped using Google about a month ago, after they forced me to get a Google account in order to access my YouTube account. (which I had for years)
I deleted my YouTube account (after pulling all my videos) and will never use Google again. For search engines, I use anything else. So, to answer your question- there's nothing I like about it- anymore. |
I plain old like the fact that its very plain. I hate excessive advertisement or graphics. I also like their gmail. My only problem with gmail though is that I get a ton of spam, way more than my other email addys. But luckily its got a really good spam filter, so so far not even 1 spam message has gotten into my inbox. Which is a lot more than I can say for yahoo and hotmail.

I like knowing how to use it to find what I'm looking for. I know there are alternatives out there, but it's like Firefox: I like it, it's a good product, so why change?
Oh, and about Google more generally...I like this (a lot): Google Sky Map for Android |
It just works. It knows what i'm looking for and puts a lot of information at my fingertips. (I.e., informal reviews of products, prices, names etc.) Google Scholar was also a great help in my Sr. Thesis.
|
I tend to use Yahoo myself.
Its probably the same thing just re-badged, but what do I know. I dont have a specific problem with Google, just tend to use Yahoo. I used to use Lycos back in the day but thats probably dead by now. |
No... Lycos is still around: Lycos Info - Products

Google owns my soul, it's my home page, it's my email provider, even the OS on my phone is a google OS. I love that it's intuitive, the layouts are always clean, and it always functions the way I expect it too.
|
I like the clean design and usability of Google. I like the way they organize information.
I love Gmail. I am I the only one who, upon receiving an email that is @hotmail.com, thinks: Wow, a message from 1997? |
Chrome, Picasa and Google Search are just so convenient can't help but to love Google.
|
I'm not even sure why I love Google but I do, too. Over the years I've learned how to find stuff using it, and when I compare my searching talents to other people I know, it seems I'm better than average.
In about the last few months I even hit up their news page a couple times a day as one of my news portals...I've set that up to show only the type of news subject matter I want, so don't ask me who "Charlie Sheen" is. While it's hard to imagine any giant company being "nice", to me Google comes as close as any and better than most, so I also generally admire the company. |
The simplicity of Google is one of the reasons I use it, as well.
The main reason I like it above the others is their logo. It just speaks to my inner child. Their specialty logos are pretty neat, too. I will say, though, that their switch to full page images on Google Image Search was wrong, imo. I like the old format better. |
It's simple and familiar. A few years ago didn't it search more of the internet than any other search engine too?
|
One thing, I don't like Chrome. Or rather, I like Firefox more.
