Would you be a pen pal to a child killer?
That may sound like a dumb question to most people, but there are of course people like that out there.
Susan Smith seeks pen pals... From another article I read she got over 500 e-mails in response to the ad. Who are these people? Desperate men? Lunatics/crazies? Media, looking for an 'inside scoop'? People willing to forgive her and open their hearts to her? Would you be a pen-pal to her or any other murderer, (assuming you didn't know this person before they committed the murder)? If you did have a friend who did something like this, would you write to them, or visit them in prison, or would you try to forget this person ever existed?

Y'know...I really don't know what I would do if it were someone that I personally knew. I don't know if I could get over the shock. I like to think that I would be a true friend and continue to maintain contact...but I honestly don't know if I could. This is going to require more soul searching than I have time to dedicate to it right now. I will have to consider it and get back. Good thought provoking thread though!
