I'm not sure if this topic is against the rules or not. If so, staff - please feel free to delete the thread altogether!

I'm just interested in what other forums you folks visit. Maybe suggestions, including the purpose of the forum (gaming, general discussion, women's chat, etc?) I've been having a hard time finding quality forums to spend my free e-time on. Thrilled with this place so far, but I've gone through quite a few before I did find TFP.

And there's absolutely no need to share your handles unless you want to. :)

I don't mind it, but just and FYI it's more of a spam magnet more than anything so we'll be having to keep cleaning out spammers. I'd like to make this a bit easier that if you'd like to know what forum that someone is referring to do it via PM so that it keeps the spammers easier to find and hang up by their toes. Most of us also just like to keep this place separate from other spaces and places due to the sexuality and mature, frank discussions we have here.

I visit a tivo forum, several car forums, and droid phone forums. I generally am visiting forums that I have niche needs when I need them. This is the only general purpose forum that I am a member of.

Got it. Sounds good. :)

There are definitely a lot of active car forums out there. Makes me wish I had an interest just so I could join lol.

I really enjoy general discussion forums. I like random discussion. And I like it online as opposed to irl. I'm not much of a social butterfly in person, unless I know you. But online, it's different for me.

I once found a forum dedicated to women with long hair. As I had very long hair att, I thought it would be interesting. Well it was just weird. These women didn't believe in styling their hair and used weird oil treatments and such. I bolted out of there fairly quickly.

Anyways, looking forward to more posts. :)

Reddit isn't strictly a forum, but its commenting system and subreddit organization make it similar enough that I feel it's fair to post here.

Man, now THAT is some random discussion lol! Bookmarked. And I'll check it out more very soon.

Thanks!

Similarly, not forums, but with their commenting feature it sometimes feels like one: Apartment Therapy The Kitchn and Serious Eats: A Food Blog and Community

Admittedly, I don't comment there nearly as much as I do here :P

Oh snowy - I'm all over those sites. Thanks so much for posting them. I'll definitely spend a lot of time drooling and browsing.

Are you familiar with Allrecipes.com - the top web site for recipes, food and cooking tips My favorite recipe site. Also, not a forum. But you can read and post reviews, etc. I've found some great recipes on there. The ratings are so incredibly helpful, as they often include suggested recipe mods and such.

Thanks again!

Conceptart.org has a lot of nice art to talk about. I do wish I could find more art forums.

I am on this! I love it!

Reminds me of Artists - International Paintings - beinArt Surreal Art Collective. Not a forum, but if you're not familiar with the site, I think you'll enjoy it. :-)

This is the only general purpose forum that I belong to. I participate in three others that are specific to auto racing. One of which is private, all registrants pay a minimal fee for hosting, etc. Membership in that forum is around 100 and the forum can not be viewed unless you are a member.

Honestly, I don't have time for anymore. I really am selective here at TFP as to which forums I read.

ironpham 01-06-2011 08:36 AM

This forum and my alma mater's forum, thewolfweb, are the forums I frequent for general purpose (news updates, movies, music, gaming, and sports). Thewolfweb is filled with a lot of douches and trolls, so you can't really take a lot of their comments seriously.

And then there's somethingawful which I use purely for gaming, but they have plenty of other topics. You have to pay to register there, though. The paying weeds out a lot of the trolls and such, though.

TFP is all I need. It has a bit of everything and you can ask anything, someone always has information to add.

I tried other sites, but I didn't like feeling like an outsider all of the time, so I left.

Borla 01-06-2011 09:28 AM

One of the best general forums I've seen is on what stared out as an automotive forum but has turned into more of a general discussion place, LS2.com. You have to be registered to see the "Bar and Grill" (main discussion forum) though.

That and this place are the two main ones I visit. I also occasionally check out the forum for the "Covino and Rich" show on Sirius Radio.

That's pretty much what I've done in the past - I'd find one forum and just stick with it. But for me, I kind of learned that I'm missing a lot by not hopping on other forums as well. And before long, by sticking with just the one forum, I started getting sucked in to a whole lotta drama. It's like working in an office - you can't help but not involve yourself when you see / talk to the same people day in and day out. So I wanted to see if I could branch out this time around. Expand my horizons or what not lol.

I've come across that with a lot of gaming forums. - They've turned into a general discussion board.

Thanks for posting this though. I'll check it out when I have more time tomorrow. :)

I post in a couple of forums that are particular to my interests like cycling or how billionaires live. But the TFP is the only general purpose forum for me! Since 2003 baby!
