coolest boys names
Quote:
i know a lot of these names would be subjective, but throw whatever names you think is cool into the middle and see what kind of weird and wonderful names we can come up with. Chuck - One of my favourites. it conjures up immages of Mr Norris himself. and of course if its good enough for Chuck Norris, its good enough for me.

I really love the name Bryce, and not just because it is my dad's middle name.
I like something that is a little unique, but still easy to pronounce and spell. I would even go so far to say this name could actually be gender neutral, because I would actually love to use it for my first kid, whether boy or girl.

Before Jen and I found out we were having a girl we were thinking of names for both genders so we knew what we would name the baby either way.
If it had been a boy we were going to name him Luke. I've never met a Luke who was not a very cool person.

I also like Liam. I've known a lot of cute little boys named Liam. It seems to be popular right now. I won't share the name I've picked out for a boy's name. I don't want anyone to steal it. It's pretty unique--I've only known two people with it, and one of them is my husband's grandfather. I also really like the name Ethan--to me, it could be gender-neutral. Every Ethan I've known has been really laid-back and easy-going.

I really like James or even better, Jake. They are very masculine, strong names. My favorite when I was going to get preggers was going to be James Jeffrey. Sadly, never got prego - so didn't need a name.
Every Gen X person I know has a son named "Liam" these days. Another name I like is Zubin...but the hub thought it was too Jewish. Although our last name is very Jewish! ...and yet, we aren't!

I concur with James. It's my dad's name and my son's middle name. I wanted to call my son James, but somehow he ended up going by his initials (another CJ!). I'm also partial to Jack.

I have strong views on this because I hate my given name (Sophia) so much. But SoPhia would be worse.
Do incipient parents actually think that giving their child an unusual or off the wall name will make the child more "cool" or special? And conversely that naming a child something like Mary or Bill will doom them to a life of mediocrity? Will twenty first century Georges, Franklins, Catherines, and Theresas (if you can find any) be dullards due to their names? Quoted for truth! We become such lemmings in the pursuit distinction! ![]() Must names (especially girl's names) now be clever, contrived, and/or ...precious to be considered? Throw out all spelling conventions and have Bayleee, Sidni, Jaxon, Raegen, Emerzon, Chrystyne, etc. Or throw an extra capital letter in there someplace: BritKnee, MarQuis, ShayLee, LilyOndra, etc. Or we could apos'trophyze as well: Ja'Von, Ga'Nieyah, Adrien'ne ?? OK, rant over. Apologies thrown out in advance. Indulge yourselves. ![]() Check out this site from I.N.C.H. the Institute for Naming Children Humanely Institute for Naming Children Humanely Homepage Lindy |

If I squeeze out a male child I'd like to name him Edward, after my father. I think my older brothers called dibs. They're convinced they'll have little girls though. My sis-in-law had an uncle Ed and hated him. She told me she'd try to argue against the name.
I like my maternal grandfather's name, Lewis. My choice for male child name would be Edward Lewis ZombieSquirrel-BabyDaddy I love my brothers, so if I don't get to name a child Edward, I'd probably name it after my brothers. Most likely Joseph after my oldest brother. I have a feeling the sperm donor (aka father) will want a say in the matter. I do NOT want girls. I know I can't really do much, but I really don't have a desire to raise a girl. There are soooo many girls in our family, so I believe it when my brothers say they'll most likely have females. |

well dont move to new zealand. they have a tendancy for weird names by the looks of it.
this story broke a few years ago (2008) and made worldwide news. i found it quite amusing. even funnier i thought was the name 'No. 16 bus shelter' BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | NZ judge orders 'odd' name change Quote:

If I come across another Aiden, Ayden, Aydin, Austin, or Austen, I'm going to cry. Edward is becoming more popular because of the Twilight silliness.
I've always liked Ethan, Teague, Micah, Jake (not so much Jacob), and Erich. And Roark. that poor kid would be mocked forever, though, it's more of a man's name than a boy's.

Julia Roberts named one of her kids Phineas. is she a Julia Roberts fan?
Does anyone else spend more time eliminating names rather than actually picking ones, due to name associations?

I always thought Jupiter was a cool name, but it doesn't go well with my last name.
My brother and sister went with the pretentious-sounding Dalton, Austin, Trenton and Hayden for their sons. I rolled my eyes at the lot of them. I like Charlie, but not Charles. Although I would never use it, I do like saying Aloysius. I like Mac, but I don't know what I'd like for the rest of the name. Hell, I wouldn't mind having a Daniel, Jr. We didn't have a lot of them around here, so it was almost unique. One last one...Zebulon. ;P Edit: I forgot about Hal. I had a friend named Hal Walker in grade school. I always liked his name.

My boyfriend, who is from Sweden, has Sigurd as his given name. (I call him my Sig other)
![]() Sigurd is not in very common usage today but is (with variants Sigmund, Siegfried, etc.) a traditional male Scandanavian name. He tells me that in Sweden you call your child anything you want, but must register an "acceptable name" with the government. Which led to this: Swedish couple fined for naming their child "Brfxxccxxmnpcccclll mmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116" - Boing Boing Quote:

I think it depends on where you live, Lindy--Sig is still a pretty common name in certain areas of the Puget Sound that were settled by Scandinavians.

Yeah she-lish is a fan of Jude.
It reminds me of Jude Law, who i dont particularly like as an actor, but dont particularly hate either. Im totally against naming after anything to do with entertainment celebrities (except for chuck norris cos hes a total legend).

I've always been very happy with my name. Plus I have not run into too many other guys named Nick so I like that, too. I also like my actual given name, Miklós, which is Hungarian for Nicholas.
---------- Post added at 11:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:52 PM ---------- As you might expect, Attila is a popular, strong Hungarian name. I have a couple of Attila cousins. |
