For me it depend on how many late nighters I've had...sometimes I'll fall asleep before my head hits the pillow, but most of the time it's within 10 minutes.

10-15 minutes. When I choose to sleep, I'm gone. And when I don't choose to sleep, sometimes I'm still gone if I'm tired

I'm usually asleep within 5 minutes, less if i'm really tired.
I think the strangest place I've fallen asleep would have to be standing up, leaning against the mast of a 50' sailboat while we were sailing. I was just exhausted, and we were doing some navigation belowdecks, and I leaned against the mast, and the next thing I knew, the other people were waking me up. Anyone else have funny falling asleep in odd places stories?

I've read if it takes you more then 20 minutes then you have a sleeping disorder. That is of course saying 20 minutes of sitting in the dark with your head on the pillow. It normally takes me about 25 minutes. More if i've been smoking pot (mostly because I get incredibly hot when I try to sleep while high... anyone else get this?)

Yup, 10-15 sounds just about right to me. I try and remember what time I last looked at before I go to bed, but when I wake up, I foget all about it!

It usually takes me about 45 minutes or so to fall asleep. It sucks, because my girlfriend is out after about 10 minutes, and I like to toss and turn before I finally get comfortable. Don't tell her - but I guess this is my excuse not to cuddle with her

It really depends on the situation for all people. Firstly there is the sleeping pattern of the person. If they regularly sleep at a certain time, then the brain will recognise that that time is used for rest and therefore making it quicker for the person to fall asleep.
On the Extreme side is the people who sleep at random hours. For people like these its a matter of sleeping when the brain gets tired. Thats why people can take up to 3 hours to fall asleep, the brain doesn't seem to recognise that its the time for rest and therefore continue to function until you tire out. Explains why people tend to have so many things on their minds if they can't fall asleep. |

I usually have difficulties falling a sleep, because when it gets quiet and theres no distractions my mind can freely start living its own life and so i have to follow my mind in its twists and turns a bit before i can fall a sleep...

It takes me about 10-15 minutes to fall asleep, unless of course I take my Tylenol PM, then I am out instantly.

Right now I could rage on in a long rant regarding my lack of sleep. Instead, I will quietly let those two words answer your question.
