Okay, I've been so busy with work, but I also miss doing things for here. So, here is an upgrade that will move us forward. This works for smartphones EXCEPT those with Windows. This is just for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry.

I tried the free read-only version on my iPod Touch. It's much easier to read/navigate with this than doing it on Safari.

Sadly we don't that I know of. BTW I'm writing this on my blackberry while walking in SoHo!

I'm starting to think I'm the last person on Earth who neither a smart phone nor an ipod. Maybe instead of donating I should've gotten a new toy.

I'm posting now from the app and I really like it. Don't know yet on how it handles alot of new posts, but quoting and posting is easy. Worth the money.

I'm editing this on my PC, because I was going to post how easy it was to edit, but it kept giving me a "Error: thread does not exsist" popup.

Installed the read only version on my Droid. Seems pretty cool so far. Might get the paid version if I use this enough.

cool mod though. i'd totally use it if i had a smart phone, though it seems to be slowing people down in their everyday lives. dont text and walk dudes. its dangerous.

I'm not a programmer. I know some PERL and a smattering of other stuff, but that does not a programmer make.

It's my opinion that ipods are overpriced and too restrictive (I hate iTunes) and a smart phone is a nice toy that I don't need -- there's no real advantage to one that's compelling enough to justify the exorbitant monthly cost. Find me a smart phone that I can use for $40 per month all-in, and maybe I'll consider it.

It's ok, I'm just teasing - I don't have an mp3 player either, after all (and if I did, it wouldn't be an iPod for the same reason you state). I like smartphones because they allow me to have a calendar, task list, and other similar things all on one device. The internet access is useful for easily accessible information, not wasting time. I realize I'm in the minority, but I have a hard time understanding people who use smartphones primarily to waste time. Since most do, though, I understand why it's easy to write off smartphones as toys.

I really would like to browse TFP on my phone, but I'm having a hard time biting the bullet on $2.99 for an app with a two-star rating. Maybe I'm spoiled on .99 apps but 2.99 is kinda extravagant for an app that apparently doesn't do forums all that well, and only renders one image per page, if the reviews are to be believed?

Jinn, what phone are you using? I can tell you the iphone version is worth $2.99 for me and works pretty damn good.

Things i've found so far that don't work that well (Iphone verson) (Tested on E, 3g, and wifi):

You can not edit. It says you can and brings you up to a screen for editing, but when you click submit, it says "This thread is invalid".

Looking at pictures is a little wonky, but you can see thumbnails of all pics in a thread and double click them to view them full screen. If that post has more than one picture, you can scroll through them like you would a photo album.

No blogs. No warning button. No multiple quotes. No online notification (who's on).

Can't jump to the last post like you can on a web browser. The post count per page isn't that high, but you do have to flip down to the bottom to read what has been posted.

Everything else pretty much works. I have no idea if you can access anything in mod land with it (because I don't have access to it), but it was worth 2.99 for me to browse TFP away from the PC.

Thought about writing a review of it, but I don't know if it's worth the trouble. If more people are on the fence about it, I'll write one of my thoughts on it.

tapatalk for blackberry is very basic. From the screen shots, the iPhone and Android versions look a lot more exciting.

That said, even with the basics, it's nice to be able to log on in a simple fashion (simple = read, browse and post - no whistles or bells)

Well, the bb version is still in beta, and is free! (And is good enough to use for this reply :) )

In the OP it mentions a Nokia version - anyone know any more about that?

I'm using an 8330 (the Canadian version of your 8310) and it works fine, if a little slow to load.

Oh well - not on the E71, which is a shame.

Now that I've joined the iPhone Cult... I will be downloading this...

I don't know how often you're using it rat, but the last time you mentioned it to me they had updated it that same day. This time, they updated it on 6/25. It's updated as of right now.

Just got the HTC Desire. Tapatalk is a nice app. I do wish it supported blogs, but otherwise it's great.
