A fallacy?
This quote got me to start this thread.
Quote:
What got me thinking, is that alot of the time I go and hang with some people and they seem to do things that make no sense to me. Well it does. but I dont understand the justification of doing it. I guess from my standards anyways. I talk alot to people and seeing their actions I like to understand why they did what they did, by asking them and then question why. I guess my tone of voice most can hear my disagreement before they explain. I am open for all new thoughts and reasoning. I understand, but in a nutshell I basically go back to basic morals of, "you just don't do that." Now when I say this, the ones I tell this to tell me, "why do you act in a I am better than everyone?" comment. is that a fallacy? I do not think I am better than ANYONE as a person, if anything I take an interest in knowing people to a point where I like to question them. Not for a debate but to understand them. Why hang with people that I have to question alot of what they do? Well because in this town it is very hard to meet people who actually think of their actions before they do them and this gets me out sometimes. The juggling of life I guess. I may be looking at this too much, but I wonder what the thoughts of others are. |

I dont think there is a fallacy involved here, you would have to have some incorrect reasoning or misconception involving your friends which I dont believe you have. You're perfectly able to realize that the group mentality construct is not necessarily beneficial to the individual.

Maybe you just need to change your tone, or get to know the people you hang out with a little bit better. If you're spending that much time trying to understand the "why" of their behavior, you may need to consider a different set of friends.

SaltPork. I have thought of this. So I have decided to cut back on hanging with them much (but I just started hanging with them). I was always a bit of a loner from the get go.
Maybe I should just start to hang more on TFP? hehe. this was just a thought, I have no real issues as far as "being alone" or "need friends" and the like. Just wanted to see what you all see that I may not be seeing. Change the tone? Yes this is something that I need to work on. Not surprised that this was caught. hehe. but it reiterates what I need to do. |
