The other morning in the city I was parked in an empty meter parking lot with my Handicap Placard waiting to go take a Exam. Then a meter peace officer comes from behind and honks twice. Well I though I was illegaly parked so I moved. Apparently couple weeks pass and I get a $83 ticket. so I wrote the city a letter explaining what happened. Then another week go by then an over due notice comes. Then I put a check with all the previous letters explaining to review. Then two weeks go by I get a check back with out explanation. Well peace officer can not admit that they were wrong The city has pride and stupid politics What an A--hole officer!

I had a similar incident. Most cities around here restrict parking on the road overnight during the winter so they can clear the roads if it snows. One night I was visiting a friend and stayed a little later than I had planned. When I got to my car, there was a ticket on the windshield. I wasn't too concerned because I knew I was past the time and the a previous ticket was only $5. I grabbed the ticket and got in my car but noticed it was different than the last one. I looked closer and found that it was a $257.00 ticket.

I had no intention of paying $257.00 for parking on the road for a 1/2 past the allowed time when there wasn't even any snow on the ground or on the way so a few days later, I decided to call the police dept to speak with a supervisor. Before I called, I grabbed my mail and found a letter from an attorney's office. Finding this odd, I opened the letter right away and found a letter stating that the police department, "in the spirit of the holidays" was dismissing my ticket.

I've never seen a police department do something good in the spirit of the holidays so I'm guessing someone higher up noticed that a patrol person fucked up and had the ticket cancelled.

Ever find out what the actual fine should have been? Many counties, cities and states are changing fines to ridiculous amounts to make up for lack of funding.

No, I never did. I guess I was so glad that the ticket was dismissed and I obviously was right that I never checked what it should have been. Now that you ask, I'm curious also. I may have to give them a call.

I recommend do things in writing. You can use it as proof of evidence. Unless you have a recordable phone where all the conversation are recorded. You don't have evidence. It will end up likely he said she said. Politics rule so Minority needs to protect themselves(Cover Your Ass)so Big brother can't come and take your money later. It is very seldom that the police will let you let by, because of spirit of Holiday Season!

Very little beats someone threatening to arrest you for counterfeiting and laundering money for terrorists because you had a $2 bill.

If you do that make sure you either tell the person they're being recorded or that you live in a "one party notification" state. In most states you're ok but in some states both or all parties involved in a phone conversation must be informed that the call is being recorded.

The check was returned to me way before with a comment document that had nothing written on it. Just in last 3 days, I got a response letter explaining I do not need to pay the parking fine. This has proven my original thought, which was payment went to one address and violation complaints went to another address.
This is basically accounting department which handles money has to reconcile the books;while the complaints are reviewed in administrative department.
Many ordinary citizen don't know this so they will seriously get confused when a letter of explanation comes later than the check. Why don't the department heads talk about this issue. Because this may seem trivial but for some who barely getting by will definitely get confused!
