Do you like to look at yourself in the mirror?
I find that I'm not so interested in looking at myself in the mirror. I remember as a youth, I used to look at the mirror a lot. Fixing and styling my flat top, adjusting my collar and clothing for long periods. Now, I'm in and out and on my way.
I rarely look at myself in the mirror, even though I have three of them in the house. One by the door large bay window size, one at the end of the hallway, decorative in wood, and the bathroom medicine cabinet. I haven't figured out why I don't care to look at myself in the mirror, but I don't. I wonder sometimes if I just don't like the way that I look or can't look myself in the eye. Do you care to look at yourself in the mirror?

This changes from day to day. I'm not sure why, either. Some days I find myself very nice to look at, other days I get obsessed with all the flaws in my face. In general, I have a high perception of myself, but I am always surprised by anyone calling me cute or sexy.

I have decorative mirrors all over my house. When I'm home alone, I don't look in them often. But if I have company, I look in one every time I stand up or walk by one. In public, I'm always catching myself intentionally checking out my reflection and fluffing my hair or something. It's not vanity. It's insecurity.
Btw, circular or octagonal mirrors placed properly throughout the home reflect good chi . Last edited by wooÐs; 12-02-2009 at 10:18 AM.. Reason: 'grammer' |

I look at myself in the mirror a lot, but I'm not really seeing myself. That's not why I'm looking. I'm usually playing with the muscles in my face, trying to isolate each muscle and see what it does.

I don't look at myself in the mirror much. When I do, it's when I'm checking things over for what's going wrong: do I need to shave? is that a zit? is it time for a haircut?
My reluctance is probably tied into insecurity and self-loathing.

This would not come as a surprise to some of you. I look in every reflective surface I find. Mirros, cars, store windows, shiny metal surfaces, etc. Not only because I'm so damn pretty, but to see if anything about my appearance is amiss. Looking tip top is the name of the game.

I generally ignore mirrors, unless I need to pluck a hair or something.

I find that it really depends on the mood I'm in. If I'm in a depressive mood, or really tired, then No. I think I look like shit, and I will find traits that remind me of one of my parents and I'll get angry and not want to look in the mirror.
If I'm having a really good day, or I'm in a happy mood, then sometimes. I wouldn't way I seek out a mirror to look in, but I'll go to the bathroom and see myself in the mirror and not hate what looks back. |

No. I do not enjoy my reflection much of the time.

Oh, yeah, especially if I'm dressed nicely and put together. I'll cop to being vain from time to time. I use reflections in windows and whatnot to correct my posture too.

I look at myself all the time, but it's not something I'd say I "like" doing. It's more analyzing my facial features, trying to figure out how others see me. Most of time I can't really decide if I like my reflection or not, but that's not the important part of the looking.

I can't pass a mirror without looking in it...
I have a weird face that I only make when I look in the mirror too.

I just look to make sure I still look kickass. Sometimes I look so kickass I have to stop and check it out. Mostly, though, I just like to revel in how really, really, really, ridiculously good looking I am

I do when I'm shaving so I don't cut off my nose/ears. And then it turns into an episode of "Whoa, I'm Getting Old."
Last week's episode included me discovering how much my facial hair is growing in for no apparent reason. I like looking at how the scars on my face stretch and fade with time. They're subtle. Like silent old friends. |

I look in mirrors when I'm getting ready to go somewhere. I make sure I look nice and then go. I don't tend to look in mirrors in the middle of the day to check if I look good. If I'm in front of a mirror I will look. Usually when I look just randomly I check my expression more than my appearance. Like I want to know how I am, or maybe how others see me. Weird, I know.

All the time. There's the daily stuff that's helped by the mirror like shaving, nose blowing, picking sleep out of my eyes.. I frequently check after dressing, as well, whether I'm tweaking a half Windsor or only pulling on a hoodie.
I also like to smile at myself or make really pointless expressions, especially when drinking. I think it's my Ego problem. Or my beautiful man boobs. |

I don't like looking in mirrors when I'm alone, but for some reason when I'm talking to someone, I like to look into a mirror. I like seeing how they see me when I'm talking. Make sure I'm gesturing correctly (I talk with my hands a lot) or I don't look like a total dork. Weird.

Yes...don't always like what I see, but it gives me an opportunity to make improvements. It's hard to walk by a mirror and not have a peek, except those mirrors that line a crowded elevator. I feel vain if I look in a mirror in public.
