Win one for the Halix
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Internet, DARPA has announced the DARPA Network Challenge, a competition that will explore the roles the Internet and social networking play in the timely communication, wide-area team-building, and urgent mobilization required to solve broad-scope, time-critical problems.
The challenge is to be the first to submit the locations of 10 moored, 8-foot, red, weather balloons at 10 fixed locations in the continental United States. The balloons will be in readily accessible locations and visible from nearby roads. DARPA Network Challenge Here's the plan. Hal registers by Dec 1. On December 5th, if you see an 8 foot red weather balloon tethered to the ground, pm Hal. Be the first network to find all 10...win $40k for TFP! |
Nifty but Twitter is going to win it within an hour.

How about we find the balloons and cut them loose so only we know where the are/where? We can plant false balloons all over the place. I guess I'm in a bad mood...so all of you twitterers can post incorrect locations and flood them with bad data.
If I see one I'll PM Hal. |
