You and your Zippo
I must have owned a half dozen Zippo lighters in my lifetime. Most were gifts, some I purchased for myself, but invariably they were lost or misplaced. The one I have now I bought about two years ago, and somehow it has stayed with me.
Zippos are one of those personal items that end up accumulating a lot of history, both in their role as popular gifts and the fact that they travel with a person everywhere. Does anyone have a Zippo, or other lighter, that holds any significance or interesting war wounds? This is mine. It's got that rainbowy/incandescent affect to it, that changes colors, which I thought was pretty cool. It's got a few minor dings from being dropped, and the obligatory pocket scratches from living with pocket change, but otherwise it's still in pretty good shape.

I've got a few zippos... my main one is just a brushed chrome one, I've taken the normal insert out and put in a torch insert for lighting cigars. I care it occasionally... when I might be smoking a cigar.
I've got a couple older ones that my mom bought me at an antique shop, one of which is the skinny version... pretty cool, dont see em often... then one I need to send in to have the hinge fixed. I dont smoke cigarettes, just cigars occasionally, so I dont usually have a reason to carry one around. EDIT: one time I engraved a brushed chrome one with flames and a friends name for her birthday. one of a kind!

had my latest one for over 15 years...
i use it for lighting my cigars... some corners are down to the "bronze" stuff after sliding around in pockets and golf car trays...

I had a beautiful one given to me as a gift years ago. My best friend att had my initials engraved on it. It was silver with tortoise shell. Used it for quite a while.
Then this best friend and my bf att decided to hook up behind my back. Once I found out, that thing was in the trash. They're married today. I hope they get crotch rot and die in a fire. |

I had one of the skinny ones once--it was a gift from a girl I was dating at the time I think, with my initials engraved in it--and thought it felt a little "small" in my hand and in my pocket. Pretty sure I lost that one at a party. I don't remember if it outlasted the girl or not.
