Before I die I want to...
I remember making lots of "to do" lists when I was younger. I had one for things I wanted to do before I die, can't really remember exactly what was on it, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to cross many things off of it yet. As of right now, my list would include...
sailing (never have) See Machu Picchu, in person. Explore the British Isles, my ancestral roots. Swim in the Mediterranean, off the coast of Greece. Read all the books on our bookshelves, and more. Create a beautiful painting. Overcome my demons. Does anyone want to share their list? Last edited by seamaiden; 11-02-2009 at 05:11 AM.. |

Superficially speaking...
I'd like to see the Earth from space. I'm hoping that in 30 years or so, there will be a space tourism industry that can offer this without breaking the bank. Visiting the moon would be the ultimate but I don't see that happening within my lifetime.

Wow dlish, you have actual plans in the works (dates and everything) to make your list happen. Mine are all in the daydreaming stage...well except the painting; I'm taking a watercolor course for the next few weeks...and I'm always reading, just not fast enough.

Let's see...
1) Go to Hawaii and explore. 2) Go to The Netherlands. Meet my long lost relatives and, of course, explore. This is hard. I never thought much about it... 3)Like Dlish, I would love to see my son grow up. To see what he will became. To see the life he helps bring into this world. 4)Go swimming with dolphins. As corny as it sounds, I think it would be a great experience. Dolphins are such smart, respectable creatures. 5)Work behind the scenes at a zoo or wildlife center of some sort, preferably with the elephants. I think that's it for now. |

Wow, my wants seem insignificant to the wants of other TFPers. Nevertheless, I'd like to attend an Army-Navy game. That would be pretty cool.

It would be fun to ride a horse. I've always wanted to ride one, but I've never made the time. They're like big dogs you can ride on, what could be more fun?
I'd like very much to build a home for myself with my own two hands. I've had the dream since I was a little boy, but kinda got sidetracked. My house now is fine, but I have to admit the prospect of designing and building a real, honest to goodness home for myself is incredibly tempting. Now that I'm older, I also want to make it energy efficient, perhaps even independent. Still, it would take quite a bit of architectural know-how and a good grasp of electrical engineering. Not impossible, but by no means a simple dream. Oh, I'd very much like to visit space, too. My hope is that private space shuttles will be affordable in my lifetime, otherwise this one seems out of my hands. Space tourism is an industry I'd like to support. I'd like to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, take a cruise to Alaska and the Arctic, visit the Trappist breweries, explore Maui (honeymoon with starkizzer! yay!), fly a jet airplane, take a spaceflight, and hopefully someday walk on another planet or the moon.
I have already been on a safari, but I would like to go on another with starkizzer. We could go on safari when we go climb Kilimanjaro!

Get a kiss from someone who truly loves me for who I am and I for whom he is.
Everything else will pretty much be a happy surprise or a hard-earned reward.

As sappy as it sounds, I would like to see world peace. But not the bullshit kind where neighbours hate each other but have to play nice or the 3 or 4 world powers will squash them in whatever manner.
But real peace and brotherhood just to see what kind of world it could be with everyone on the same page. Never happen though. Too many fucking assholes who think they are better or more important than the rest. And I would like to see all the world ills solved,...Alzheimers, cancer, spinal injuries reversed etc As for what I would like to do,...just be happy and realize every moment for what is it. |

Nice to see there are others who dream big. I'm still hopeful, but I'm thinking BadNick and Grancey will be the most likely to see their dreams come true. Good luck to the rest of us.

I would like to learn Sign language, Morse code, Latin, how to play the piano, Karate, Ju-Jit-Su and Taekwon do.
Travel around the world, staying at one city for several months before moving to a different county and city. If I have enough funds in the future, I would like to have a custom built house with secret rooms that can only be accessed by pulling on candle levers or a moving a book in a bookcase. |

-Speak at least 5 languages. Doesn't have to be fluent, I'll settle for conversational. I'm currently learning Japanese and it's a slow process, but I'm not giving up. Once I get the hang of Japanese it's either gonna be French or Cantonese.
-Live in Japan for a few years. Just applied for the JET program in Japan. Waiting for call backs. -Read the famous classics: China's Four Great Classic Literature (1 down, 3 to go); Vietnam's The Tale of Kieu, Dante's Divine Comedy, Goethe's Faust, Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the complete work of Shakespeare, etc. The Talmud, Bible, Quran are also on the list. Work in progress. -Learn the Piano -Become an accomplished chef. Work in progress. -Learn sign language and the Morse Code. -Do REAL jumps with my snowboard. Gonna attempt to this winter. -Travel all over East Asia and Europe. -Pick up drawing again, and this time not giving up until I'm good at it. -Ballroom dancing.
