Do you currently, or did you ever know a murderer?
EXCLUDING war heroes lol.
Andrew Deyoung. He graduated a year before I did. He decided if he off'd his family, he'd inherit some cash for him to start up a business. So he and a friend came up with a plan. Late one night he stabbed and slashed his parents to death while they 'slept.' His 14-year-old sister ran into the hallway screaming because she heard her parents screaming. Andrew cut her throat at that time. Nathan, the older brother, escaped to a neighbor's house through a window. Both Nathan and the neighbor recognized Andrew leave the scene of the crime. Nailed. My Dad worked with his Dad. They lived about 8 miles away. Can you imagine how fucked up the brother is today? He's been on death row since 1995. How long does this shit take? I periodically check back to see if he's gone yet but I just don't understand how that works. But I'm assuming all of our tax dollars are paying for his food and stellar choice in eyewear. |

In order to access the older and more sensitive portions of the forum at large, we (assuming the unlikelihood that I, myself, am included in this spec-evalution of your 'grantedness') need to upgrade your status to level 1: "as harmless and unassuming as a sentient clock radio". By then, you'll be able to access the tiered levels of grouped words and feelings. Once permitted, you'll be promptly outfitted with a pair of these to aid you in your subsequent trawlings of back-access searchable topics:

I didn't know a murder per-say, but I did serve as a juror on a murder trial back in April of this year. I didn't know the accused on any personal level. He was accused of murdering his "friend/drug-dealer" because he wanted to steal his weed. They both were 19 at the time (December 2006 I believe) Once the trial began, and his family showed up, I knew that they were from my neighborhood and that they knew some of my close friends. So I don't know if that counts.

I used to bump into the BTK killer (Dennis Rader) all the time at Quiktrip in Park City on the way to work (very obviously before he was arrested). He always seemed like a nice guy... I never "knew" him, but bumped into him at least 100 times over the 7 years I had that job.

I didn't know him, but I received a lot of mail for the man that killed Cecelia Zhang. I took over some of his duties when he left his job.
My father worked with a man that recently killed his mother. Very sad story.

There were less than 200 students in my high school class and one of the guys dropped out, I think it was in our senior year, because his mom was arrested as an axe murderer, and later convicted. I didn't really know her, but met her at a couple parents' nights at the school.
One of the guys in a group who rented the upstairs of a large summer beach house where a bunch of my friends were renting the downstairs, threw his girlfriend off the upper deck. She hit a propane tank on the ground and died. He seemed like a nice guy, we used to party together. But he got drunk and angry and lost control. |

I'm not sure why I started the thread in Members Playground, possibly to limit the 'public access.' I apologize for posting a link to a thread that some of you can't access. It was quite surprising to see how many TFPers personally know/knew a murderer; I know/knew two, possibly three murderers.

Yeah strange - looks like you have to search for singulars as well as plurals.
And don't apologize! Maybe an option would be to merge the threads to Discussion? If you're ok with it and staff's ok with it then I'm ok with it. |

I'm cool with it, but some of the people who posted in the original thread might not want their responses viewable in the 'public' Discussion forum. Understandably so, given the personal nature of some of the posts.

When I worked at a Gas station one of my co workers had stabbed his step father to death when he was 11. Apparently he was beating on his mom and one night he couldn't take it anymore and snapped. Nice guy, a little strange, but still a nice guy

I can't remember her name but one time my wife and I had dinner with her mom and a new friend of hers (I think her name was Debbie or something with a D.). She seemed nice enough. A couple months later, D had my mother-in-law's business partner pick her up at a convenience store. She was acting really strange that day and from then on. A few days later the cops came to talk to D about the disappearance of one of her clients. Afterwards she came to my mother in law's house and talked to her and her partner about it.
Next some cops come to talk to my mother in law and her partner about it. During the talk, they mentioned some of the things that D was talking about and it just so happens that what D had told them was information about how the body was found that wasn't released to the press. They arrested D and convicted her of murder using their testimony. |
