TFP Hash House Harriers
Do we have any other Hashers on the TFP?
I just got named this weekend at the Texas Crab Hash. My Hash name is Twinkle Toes. I got that name because I run barefoot, and when the shiggy gets thorny I tend to run up on my toes like Fred Flintstone does when he bowls. Fred got the name Twinkle Toes because of it.. My Home Hash is Houston Hash House Harriers H4.org I have been having so much fun hashing, I wish I had found this earlier! Anyways, Fellow hashers, share your name and your hashing stories here! If you have no clue what I'm talking about, check out Houston Hash House Harriers Hashing 101 and read it, and watch the video for a good overview. ON-ON!

Cromp, there's a very active hash group in Springfield/Annadale. You can see their marks all around the NVCC-Annandale area.

A drinking club with a running problem. These guys are madd uber friendly. I ran into the Pinellas county group by chance at the bar I go to. It's not even on their normal route. I think I really need to use that card they gave me and join up......

I've hashed a few times and always had a great time. The best group I ever hashed with was in Atlanta. We were doing a course down in Little 5 Points, and I was in the lead group (this was back in the day), and we split because we had two trails. I followed one with some other guys down some railroad tracks for about 2 miles before we realized that it was something from a leaking container car, not flour.
Good thing that one of the guys knew the owner of a bar nearby, who brought our BAC back up to acceptable levels before we went back for the finish.

Ha!
I am amused by this concept of drinking and running.

16 miles last week, 18 this week. Getting there! I had a cold two weeks ago and I was on vacation last week, so it's been hard keeping to my schedule.
I accidentally left my running shoes at my sis-in-law's place. They're in the mail now, but I did yesterday's 4-miler in my years-old noname cross trainers, instead of my usual motion-control heavy-duty support shoes. Today my knees are screaming. |

This greatly interests me. I had heard of this before when I did my first 5k, my friend was talking about a group that drank and ran. He said I would be prefect for it.
The closest one is an hour away from me, a little to far for me to go to then drink. I might have to make it down there for that tho, it sounds right up my alley. I would need to start running BEFORE I go tho. I'm way out of shape to try running with a group. |

looks like there is one this saturday... running thru the pregame festivities...
word of warning... here in houston there are "consequences" for wearing new shoes or shirts that are from competition... so just dont... especially the new shoes.... also... be careful what you do and say... or you'll get named for it quick... not that is necessarily a bad thing..

I ended up at the zoo with my family instead, so I'm trying to get a couple of friends together for either the hash on the 14th or the full moon hash on the 2nd. Started (and will continue) doing a few short runs just to make sure my stamina is up-to-par...don't want to get nicknamed Wheezy or similar.

lol no worries on running abilities... its very non competitive... but it is a good idea to try to keep with the group... it can be tough to scout out the checks all by your lonesome... but we have several regulars that pretty much only walk.

id love to at least try it. i know we have one here. but the non drinker that i am, i'd be left out on the sidewalk sipping sparkling mineral water while the real men have a pint
im still out of action with a bad ankle too, so now i cant drink and i cant run. life's no fun

The Houston group doesnt really care... they always have water/sodas/whatever for people who dont drink. I've been running with the Bakersfield, CA hash the past few weeks... and they are more of a drinking club... and they're definitely harsher on non drinkers...
