Wrist Watch?

Anyone either a)bought a rolex replica online or b)asked a jeweler about where to get one?

I'm looking for a rolex watch for myself but I obviously do not wish to pay $5,000 or more for one. I've seen some websites that advertise replicas that cost around $400 or $500.

A little background on me...I'm in sales and a rolex watch would go a long way in projecting an image of success. We call them sales props. Like a mont blanc pen for example.

Any help or previous experiences would be greatly appreciated!

You could browse around Zappos.com, limiting your search by style and price.

rahl 09-29-2009 02:16 PM

They don't carry Rolex's or Rolex Replicas

Plan9 09-29-2009 02:27 PM

Well, obviously. But you're going for a look, not a brand name.

In my opinion, you'd do better off with something legit for $450 than something crap that supposed to look like it's $5K.

Anybody that knows anything about a Rolex can spot most replicas.

rahl 09-29-2009 02:35 PM

Good point, thanks

Xazy 09-29-2009 04:36 PM

Fly to NYC go to canal street and buy a good knockoff for $50, or there is some places in the diamond district where you can get it a little below the normal price if you want the real thing.

dlish 09-29-2009 05:29 PM

spend 1500 bucks on a ticket to bankok and get one for 15 bucks.

i bought one for my dad a few years back. mind you it did stop working after a few months

Stare At The Sun 09-30-2009 12:02 AM

I'd get a Movado.

Fits your price range and are very classy.

But if you're set on a Rolex..maybe hit up a pawn shop?

Why buying replicas?
With 500$ you get great watches without being lame...

What do you say when a customer says 'Is that a real Rolex?'

Yes = You are lying to their face.

No = I am just wearing it to impress you

Do the right thing, by a real one. Pawn shops right now are loaded with them.
You will get many compliments and you will project an image of success that is real.

Or get this pretty U-Boat Ratrappante for a cool $14,750. If you can find one. Only 100 were made in this limited edition batch. You can get a non limited edition for $1800. U-Boat has a good reputation and it's still less than a Rolex!

You, sir, work for the US government, don't you?

Vigilante 10-01-2009 11:45 PM

I wouldn't spend over 200 for a watch.

Fucker wouldn't last a year even then. I'm really hard on exposed equipment.

RogueGypsy 10-02-2009 09:05 AM

Go with a TagHeuer. 1/2 the price, twice the watch.

LoganSnake 10-02-2009 09:29 AM

Movado, Tissot, Tag Heuer, Nixon and Sector would be in your price range and, IMO, look a lot better (some models) than a Rolex.

Wait... what's unexposed equipment?

My cell phone is unexposed. It's in a sheath that slips in my pocket. Were it on my wrist, it wouldn't have lasted a week.

That's what she said.

Anyway, have you considered a pocket watch? I have only owned one or two wrist watches. The others have been pocket watches because I don't like to wear things on my wrists or hands.

Somebody didn't read the OP. It's hard to bling-bling-itize a pocket watch without looking like a major douchebag... from 1900.

Swinging a pocket watch out constantly as a prop piece... what are you? A train conductor? All aboard, y'all.

A fucking COOL train conductor though!

Martian 10-02-2009 09:55 AM

For the record, something like a Movado says success to me. A Rolex says trying too hard. A fake Rolex says trying way too hard.

There are plenty of nice watches that aren't Rolexes.

And Baraka_Guru is in publishing. The pocketwatch fits with the professorial image.

Plan9 10-02-2009 09:56 AM

Shit, I'm going to go buy a Movado now. It'll confuse people when I tell them I work for the gummint.

...

New Crompsin Rule of Thumb: Never spend more on a watch than you'd spend on your bachelor party.

Now that's funny.

It's even funnier if you imagine Britney Spears saying it, wearing cutoff shorts and a wifebeater.

My suggestion here: watches don't really attract as much attention as you may think. Personally, I try to strike a balance between "supersuccessful" and "just getting started". It can be difficult if I appear to be more successful than a client.

Plan9 10-02-2009 10:00 AM

Heh, is it wrong that your Britney comment kinda turned me on in a horrible drunken frat boy kinda way? Eeewwh... I need a shower.

I look at the style and condition of the guy's shoes myself. In the business world... shoes are everything. Crusty kicks = all bad.

Not unless you're planning on growing a penis.

Yes, exactly. I'll check out someone's shoes much sooner than a watch. When I'm in an airport, I get a shine if time allows. It doesn't matter if I'm coming or going. And I never buy cheap shoes.

OMFG!! That was the funniest thing I've read all day. Good one Crompsin!

I have a Timex Ironman. It cost me 25 notes and has told the time pretty well the last 3 years. You can get fake rolex round my way for 10 quid, but they turn your wrist green and probably dont tell the time that great.

http://www.gosale.com/product_images...00-4936876.jpg

Oh, and I am not in Sales, but I do doa bit of buying and I have never ever taken notice of a suppliers watch.

I guess I'm not the type for bling. I wear sneakers to work. I don't wear jewelry or watches. I do have steel rings in both ears though. Wife likes em :paranoid:

Speaking of, I wear my wedding ring.

I'll wear my aggie ring if I'm in the mood or going to an interview.

When I see blingy watches I usually think douchebag. Not in a strong sense, but in that guilty until proven innocent sense.

Tully Mars 10-03-2009 03:31 AM

Owning a real or fake Rolex doesn't really appeal to me. I have three watches. A Timex knock off I bought at Wally World for less then $10, a Citizen Wingman and a Citizens Hyper-Aqualand dive watch. Any time I'm doing manual labor I wear the Timex knock-off, it actually keeps time rather well and it doesn't matter if I beat the crap out of it. Both the citizens were roughly $400. The Wingman has some nice nav features built into it and the bezel has a slide rule capable of calc. fuel consumption etc... The Aqualand records dive times, water temp, depths, surface time and it sounds an alarm is you ascend or descend too quickly etc... it has a cradle that allows you to upload that data to your computer. I have no idea where the cradle is.

A watch with a slide rule?! I have to see this.

Looking better-off than your clients during a recession is a bad idea.

underdun 10-03-2009 04:37 AM

It would also depend on what you sell, if your going door to door selling knives people are gonna wonder how the heck you can afford a rolex. Besides, if the guy your trying to sell to is wearing a timex and you wearing a rolex your gonna look like a smuck! A brand I might suggest would be esq, I picked mine up for $800 and I think it looks better than a rolex.

I have a Bulova that I've owned for a couple years. I really like it and have gotten several compliments on it. I personally would always choose a nice $400 watch over a $400 replica of something I wanted but couldn't afford. I too would like to have a couple of elite watches in my collection some day, but I'll never knowingly by a fake.
