Post Your Favorite Classic Hollywood Portraits
Don't you just love those vintage Hollywood portraits of your favorite B/W movie stars? This is the thread where you can share your collection with other TFP members.
1.) Post your favorite stars and starlets, men or women. Be sure to identify your star by name. 2.) Many of these stars had several classic portraits made, so feel free to post the same star more than once. 3.) It's OK to repeat the same photo if you happen to have a better resolution than the one already posted. 4.) If you want to, include or discuss your favorite movie featuring this star or how you came to admire this star. Here's a couple from my collection to start off: Gene Tierney - I first noticed her in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir Hedy Lamarr - She's in Ziegfeld Girl which we happened to watch recently. just a quick response with no pictures but off the top of my head, first choices for stars that made for some fantastic photographs.
females: Dorothy Lamour Ann Southern - the episode of Duffy's Tavern when Ann and Jimmy Durante substitute for the ill Ed Gardner is hilarious. Lillian Gish Gene Tierney Males: Cary Grant

I know! I know! I love Marilyn and that's a different image of her than we usually see. I'm surprised uncle phil isn't here smacking me for saying that.
I'll add Orson Welles. I always found him very interesting, as well as being one of the greatest movie directors, sometimes producer, writer, and star, too! ...Citizen Kane is one of my favorite movies of all time. |

Quick question, based on this trending: do the portraits supplied here "need" to be monochromatic, sepia-toned, B&W, etc..?
I'm sure I could snap this trend fairly easily if I wanted to, but in the spirit of the thread, thirdsun, do you have a preference either way? I don't, but I like boundaries sometimes; keeps my chaos factor in check. Also, I just happened upon an enormous source of classic Hollywood niche photographers, and safe to assume at this point, my archive of celebrities from then til now is replete with over 8500+ photographs, a majority of them being black & white portraits. So, at least now, I have a place to share them. Where to host them, though, may be another matter altogether.

Thanks, ngdawg. That would be Greta Garbo. You're right. Her face was the subject of hundreds of these types of photographs. Great contribution!

Indicative of my peculiar proclivities perhaps, but I've always been attracted to Peter Lorre.
