The thing is, he would have made it so easy for someone to do. One of the things in the PM's he and I exchanged was that he needs to do a much better job of protecting himself if he's going to cop an attitude on the internet. As you probably guessed, he didn't quite understand what I meant - a lot of folks don't "get it" until it's already happened to him.

after reading it, I'm still surprised.

I dunno, maybe I'm jaded but the whole "hur hur lets kick this disabled guy in a wheelchair" equivalent treatment of less than forum savvy people routine seems kinda weird to me.

Well, he may have come and gone, but the damage to reputation the site gets from this remains and really isn't something it needs right now. I would think we would be more focused on following our own stated rules and philosophies instead of just doing what we felt like making fun of at any given moment, homophobia or not.
