i took my new gf to the pictures in liverpool, we get on really well and were both chewing the fat by taking the piss out of all the people who were there alone, isnt people watching fun!? but anyway.

Then my ex walks in :| im sat thinking WHAT THE HELL? is she stalking me?
turns out no. BUT, she then carrys on to sit n her own o.O perhaps you dont see the dilemma. im thinking what i know my new girl must be thinking, 'is she on her own because she should have been going with me, but we broke up and therefor now she's a loner?!'

not cool, the result was her noticing me and me pretending like i had no idea. this wasnt cruel but less embarrassing for everyone involved- further result was me feeling shitty for breaking up with said girl.

anyone been in a similar situation who can feel my pain?

I don't understand why it is automatically stalking just because she was at the movies alone. I know it does not happen often, but can't people go to the movies alone? Do they have to go with someone? Maybe she just really wanted to see that movie.

Between adding the current girlfriend as a friend on Facebook and going to the movies - there's no question in my mind.

I have been to movies on my own - movies are fun and you can't always find someone who wants to go when you have time - but this case is just too fishy to not be otherwise.

Facebook seems to be slightly better than Myspace on the stalking prevention front, that is.. as far as im aware.

im not convinced i am being stalked quite yet, so the ego thing isnt really hitting me. i've not even found my cat dead... yet :P

one more thing; how exactly does one go about 'nipping it in the bud?' sure the very nature of the stalker would make this quite a task? i don't think a restraining order is an easy thing to do in the UK. I tryed to get my mate sectioned once for a laugh.. turns out you need a fair amount of evidence ;)

ask your current squeeze how she feels about this.. if she doesn't like it then tell the ex to back off.. you have your own life.

I've never had the honor of being stalked myself. I think the best thing would be to wait and see if the problem continues, and if it's stalking.
I've gone to the movies by myself a bunch of times, so don't jump to conclusions yet.

If it is stalking, talk to her maturely. Maybe she just needs a bit of closure... or maybe she wants to make you suffer a long, painful death. You never know.

Stalking isn't always bad mind you ... unless you're the rabbit.

Facebook is actually quite good when it comes to privacy (for a website). You can easily control who sees what info.

The movie incident isn't too bad on its own, but the fact she tried to friend your new girlfriend on Facebook is rather questionable. I'm assuming they have no other connection to one another?

Anyway, I wouldn't really worry about it too much yet. If she mysteriously shows up somewhere again, then it's definitely stalking, but for now I'd be inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt.

I wish I had a stalker. That sounds kinda hot.

In the town where I grew up I've gone to the movies dozens of times without running into a single person I know. Unless this was the movie's night of release in the only movie theater in Liverpool I seriously doubt it's coincidence.

UnclearContent- i dont know what it is about me but i do have a tendency to bump into folk i know, drinking [some nice bars and pubs in liverpool if your ever down!] and on the way to work mostly! Liverpools a fairly big a place but its not HUGE. Unless your going to an indy cinema your going to hit the same one really!
