TFP needs more fans on Facebook!

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tilted...8469008?ref=nf

I have started updating the TFP facebook page with events and news about the site. You might find it beneficial to become a fan so you can get updates. Becoming a fan also helps spread the word about TFP.

I'm sorry...did you say something? I was too mesmerized by your avatar to really catch what you were saying.

I'm a facebook noob. I joined...what? Maybe a month or so ago. TFP is on my fan list. I'm guessing, however, that there won't be a whole lot of crossover. Most people add family members, co-workers, old high school and college friends and other assorted people that they may not want to associate with the TFP. People tend to share things here that they may not necessarily want exposed to their "real" world. But...for those, such as myself, that don't particularly care, then by all means...join.

For those of you who would like to, but are still hesitant because of the content on the site, I would like to leak out that we are working on making the TFP a bit more... digestible. This will not take the edge off, I swear.

Honestly, this is my biggest issue.

I don't wish to openly associate myself with what Joe Moron will call a porn site when they're doing my next background check if I still have a Facebook at that point. I don't have access to the EZ, random viewers don't have access to he EZ, but I know it'd kick my ass anyway. Somehow. Always does.

I'm not sure I'd like a change to the site. I keep my online life and offline life separate. Plus, I don't care about anyone on my friend's list on facebook, it was just something to do in college.

Well these changes ARE coming. We think both aspects of the TFP (discussion and porn) can flourish better if they are perceived as their own separate entities.

Just to be clear: I don't have any problem with the site containing adult material. I believe that close association with The Stuff That We All Look At Anyway (TM) fosters discussion.

I just don't want to put my name/face/whatever with it due to the type of employment I'm seeking in the near future. They're uptight suits and probably believe that lights-out-missionary is SOP.

If this job falls through... I'll become TFP's Minister of Pornographic Goodies.

I browsed the TFP fans, and only recognize 6 of them by their avatar/photo. Two others look slightly familiar, but I cannot place them.

If I can figure out how to make my TFP links inaccessible to family and rl friends, but accessible to my internet friends, I'll do it. Might anyway, but I'll have to clean out my blog first. I'll friend tfp members, though.

I could care less about the EZ of TFP, I hardly go there. I'll browse my porn somewhere other than the site I try to talk about world issues and topics of the day.

When I started actually posting on TFP I stopped looking at porn on TFP. If something catches my eye, I look at it, but otherwise I'm good on the porn. Here at least. I thought you were talking about changing how TFP runs.

I don't get the necessity of these changes. I'm not trying to sound whiney, or annoying in any way; I think most of us are cool with the porn, and even though some of our friends/acquaintances may not be, isn't it the only way to bring traffic?
Or are those days over, or are you trying to think of a new way to bring traffic?
I come here for lurking/reading discussions mostly, adding my 2 cents in sometimes, but I don't care either way if the EZ way is gone, or stays.

Only those of you that have not written anything personal here or have no problem with having your personal life torn to shreds by people who claim to be your friends but only added you because you "work" together then can sign up. In the meantime, facebook, is for feighning socialization. TFP is for real life issues that include me, myself and I.

Sorry halx, I'll do my best to support this site next time, I promise to stop being a leach. But please understand this critical aspect.

Its all part of a larger strategy to get the TFP up to date with modern technology.

My facebook friends include real-life friends, family members and TFP friends. Doesn't seem to be much of an issue with 'em all bundled up together. But then again, I really don't talk about many things here that I wouldn't be comfortable talking about with most of them. Only problem might be my nieces and nephews trying to join and some of them are under 18.

Keep in mind that I'm already a member of the Facebook TFP group. I don't see much reason to do more. I invite select friends to this place by sharing links to specific threads that appeal to them. Spamming people's walls with updates and links to TFP doesn't mesh well with this mentality.

The Facebook TFP group is not managed by anyone on the staff. It has no real official utility. As noted in the OP, becoming a fan of the TFP on Facebook will provide you with the updates that are sent out by the staff.

My nickname IRL and on here is the same. I like my privacy, so I won't link to TFP.
Regardless of porn or whatever, I choose the face I present to my school in regards to politics, religion, personal stuff, etc. I choose differently with friends and family. To a certain degree. I just like having a "safe place" where some of my outside friends and my family members can't find me. And where I can talk shit about them if I need to. I<3 the TFP and want to choose who finds it through me. Because, believe me, some of the people I know that would look into the site would do nothing but cause trouble or get banned.

my take on it is that if people lead different lives here than they do in RL, then they may not want to make that connection with RL.

personally im the same in either place, so i have no problem with this. if you do have an issue with anonymity, then you may not want to make that link. sometimes people share things about themselves that they usually dont want others knowing.

personally i'd get a rude shock if i was halx's 18 year old cousin and decided to browse through the EZ and look for his pics.

Dude, the Real life Xerxys is not the same TFP Xerxys. The creepy sex crazed maniac you have come to know and in some disturbingly way love is by no means that way in real life.

dlishs, I have read some of your posts and I know from a glance you don't have a problem with homosexuality, are against capital punishment etc etc etc. What if the Mosque you are trying to join from your local neighbourhood turns out to have that step-cousin you have always hated as a member. He does a small search on your profile, finds TFP and finds your posts through this place.

The other reason I don't want a public link is because I am going to be pursuing a career in a heavily regulated industry and Crompsin said it best, Joe Moron WILL think this is a porn site where we sit and talk solely on how much we love wearing pantyhose and lipstick while home alone.

like ive said previously, i dont put stuff i dont want people to know about. im pretty transparent.

if i wanted to 'join a mosque' i would.

my relationship with god, God, G-d, Yahwah, Allah, or whatever you want to call him is personal. Let he who is free from sin cast the first stone..right?

i have seventy something first cousins..yes thats right..ive lost count now.. if one of them wanted to join, then i'd treat them as any other member. no handouts from me. i'd have a high chance of people finding me here because of my link to FB. as for the porn links, because i live in UAE, the porn filters work pretty well and i dont have access to the links contained iwthin the posts.

in saying that, i try and not add my relatives to FB to avoid family members keeping tabs on me

I wouldn't say it is awesome. For me it is convenient. My young cousin (24) is spending the summer in Alaska working on a fishing boat. Instead of sending out emails to all his friends and relatives, he posts his experiences on Facebook and we can comment/respond if we choose to and view each others responses to him. That has been fun for me, especially all of his bear sightings/photos. For me it's keeping up with relatives scattered around the country. I have also been contacted by undesirables from high school wanting to be my friend now when they rarely spoke to me in high school. I just ignore them.
