vampires
I was browsing through the Off the Wayside forum and coming across several vampire pictures, a question arose.
Do vampires find us mortals sexually attractive? Or do they find us as attractive as we might find a steak attractive? mods: if this post is in the wrong forum, i'd appreciate it if you'd move it to the correct one. |

I just thought it would be better in General Discussion.
Anyway, according to Anne Rice, vampires find everything attractive. Especially humans. But the thing is, vampires just don't see anything sexual in the terms that we see it as sexual. Something can be especially good looking, or intriging, but our motives are different. Vampires want to feed. Humans want to procreate (at least thats the most basic form of it)

Vampires are very sexual beings. Like the spleen said their idea of sexual is different then ours.
Would you be afraid if they really did exsist? Would you still walk around at night? I know I might be afraid.......but the thought of immortality is very tempting. However this world is already crumbeling around us.....I can't imagine what will become of it in another hundred years. |

Do you really believe vampires exist?
If not, the question is moot. If you do, put your book down, turn off your t.v., shut down your computer, and go outside and do something, anything, real. Just a thought.

A couple of the female vampires looked really sexy in Queen of the Dammed, but its the whole body temp thing. If a mortal isnt slain and acts as a host; I guess an acceptance to sex though bloodletting would have to become customary; otherwise its necrophilia.

Relax, dude. Your original post didn't indicate whether or not you believe vampires to be real. Some people think they are.
To respond to your question: I'd have to go with the meal on the hoof thing. Once you're dead you can't reproduce, so I'd think food would be concern number one. Fuckin's for the livin'.

The vampire is a being created in fiction with help from sexuality. They mostly attack women, the red lips, and they only do stuff at night. I think there are more examples but I can't remember them all.
I think vampires would find mortals sexually appealing and cuisine-related appealing. It's a win win situation for them. |

Personally I think if vampires were real they would view humans as a means to an end....food...life....rather than in a sexual manner.
For example....if I were a vamp and was really hungry....I'd lure the big fat sloth into the alley and suck his blood as readily as I would the hot guy! lol Just a thought!

This thread has deeper underlying questions that require answering - such as where the vampire myth actually came from?
The reason vampires are associated with sexuality is the 'nature' of their activity - although macabre, it is inherently sexual in nature. As a result, vampires are portrayed as exuding a certain sexuality in all they represent. As to whether this is a genuine sexuality or something else, I think it is more accurately seen as an appreciation of the human form, of the beauty which emanates from life. That said, you would think it logical that vampires retain their sexual urges, and the only way these may be expressed is through the action of sucking one's blood - actual sexual interaction may not result in any pleasure to them so they need to vent their frustration through sexualising their act of survival. This is all getting too confusing - are vampires real anyway? I think that the myth must have emerged from somewhere - it is so specific in its mythology (the whole cross, garlic, silver bullet, steak through the heart, decapitation, eternal life, burnt by sunlight, etc) that it must have emerged from something that was once real??? What does everyone else think?
