4chan Attacks YouTube
Quote:
So the people at 4chan (sorry not a fan at all) decide to protest music deletion by uploading porn with a specific demographic in mind? I could see a flood of music videos being uploaded, but not porn videos with titles such as Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers. Even if a parent is monitoring their children's actions on YouTube, it's a bit hard to know that a Jonas Brothers video is suddenly going to turn into a Bukkake fest. This is just another reason that I will never understand nor associate with the 4chan community. |

I believe Crack posted a thread here about the topic a few days ago. Here it is: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/found-n...-may-19th.html
And to add, it wasn't initially 4chan that launched the attack, it was sparked by ebaumsworld, and it translated over to 4chan later. Furthermore, I want to clarify that I just learned about 4chan a month ago thanks to stumbling upon this, some twisted form of historical archive of how 4chan has shaped internet humor for the past several years. Despite the sophomoric tone and disgusting bigotry found within nearly every article, I still find it quite interesting. What's more, after reading the article I found there, the whole orchestrated "attack" on youtube had no real merits, but it was just a lobbied query by some anonymous user; it started by him asking what would happen if he uploaded porn to youtube. Someone responded that it would get promptly deleted; then, he put forth the hypothesis of "but what would happen if ALL of us upload p3rn on YouTube non-stop?". Thus began the idea of Operation YouTube, and I think it was as Crack mentioned before, initiated earlier this week on Tuesday. Regarding the tags of Disney characters you mentioned, this is what the article explains: Quote:

I dont find it very funny when they used tags that my child would use to look for things

This just goes to show how far out of the loop I am when it comes to things like these.
Sure, attacking a major site like youtube could be seen as funny, but for me the fun ends when it's number one not addressing the issue they were upset about and two, the fact that the tags were in some instances clearly aimed at the minor demographic. It could easily be construed as distributing pornography to minors and contributing to the deliquency of a minor. Sure kids are going to find what they want, but when they are actually looking for shitty Jonas Brothers clips, they shouldn't be subjected to anal poundings and cum shots. |

4chan is a cesspool. It's about as fun to be there as wading through a field of waist high shit.

"And does the representative from /gif's motion to form a committee devoted to a letter writing campaign of our proper governmental delegates have a second?" This was not thought out any farther than lol, pr0n on youtube. I actually do understand the base of the urge. Censoring triggers the 'you think you can stop content you don't want?" reflex in hive minds and libertarians alike...same reason people figured out you can avoid the swear filters on all message boards that have them by typing Code:
fucking shit edit: shouldn't code block keep my bbcode tags from parsing? O_o

I agree that 4chan is a cesspool of angry, bitter, racist, misogynistic people who post some of the worst comments/images on the internet... but I still go there. If you have ever laughed at a LoLcat, horrible "inspiration" photos (there has been a few threads on TFP with them) or for being "rick rolled"; then you can thank 4chan. I'd say 99% of the stuff on 4chan is horrible, but when you are there for the 1% that is funny, it's epic.
I agree with some of the posters that this was funny as hell, but I don't have a kid so I have no reason to be up in arms about it. I'm sure if I had a tween or teenager kid that saw one of these videos, I'd be pissed off from hell. I don't, so I laugh. |

If ebaums started this and 4chan picked up on it, then this would be the first time in the history of the internets.

Ebaums did it. There is no such thing as /b/.
************************************* Anyhow, 4chan doesn't really do anything for much purpose. Most of it's just for the lulz, and to prove they rule the internets. I personally think this is funny, but I also have no children. Even if I had children, though, they wouldn't be allowed on a site like YouTube anyway. They only disallow nudity. It doesn't have to be naked to be too mature for children.

the Hide tag needs a title to work is all, e.g. [Hide=Proof On Concept] [ /hide]
