I've always said that if we had appropriate punishments for people convicted things like this such as arm amputation and in all cases mandatory sterilization, only a fraction of people would consider doing things like this. Instead they get a single digit of months or years in prison. I looked it up and since sentencing, one of the people who did this had two and a half years before he could get parole and the other got five years until he could get parole. What a joke. Sentences in cases like this are always a joke.

Except that harsher sentences have zero deterrent value and tend to increase recidivism rates,and for juvenile offenders harsh sentences increase recidivism rates. Your argument has no basis in reality if your intent is to reduce crime rates.
