I disagree with most of you here. I think the excessive body odor that is being discussed with homeless and others is pretty serious. This is not people being a little sweaty. I have done commercial landscaping in 95 deg temperature in college with 90% humidity for ten hour days. Your t-shirt is completely soaked. Your jeans are soaked with sweat down below the knees. And you have a little sweaty body odor, because you showered that morning. It takes a little while to build up enough bacteria to get that strong acrid odor. Besides, someone smells like poop. If you stink of poop, that bacteria makes your ass itch. So you scratch it. Then you handle books, doorknobs, water fountains, keyboards, etc... If you don't care that you stink, you are not going to bother washing your hands after a good ass scratch. This is not the middle ages. We understand the importance of good hygiene. Just because someone is homeless does not excuse them from maintaining the standards of society. Do you think if some of you were rendered homeless for awhile, that you would give up maintaining your standards of decency? Say you had to wear your underwear for two days in a row. Do you really think it smells so bad that people can smell it from three feet away? You would wait until employees left for the night from a business, and go over to the local water spigot to rinse your stuff out.

One last thing, telling someone they can come back after they have cleaned up is not banning them from the library. The books are still going to be there later.
