I'm quite fascinated by the split age distribution.

It's not really split, more like a bell. The poll doesn't have equally sized options, due to the fact I knew there would be more 20- and 30-somethings than older members.
Broken down by decade, we've got: 0-20 - 2 21-29 - 47 30-39 - 32 40-49 - 16 50-59 - 9 60-69 - 2 70+ - 2

it would also be interesting to see the numbers broken out by gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and posting frequency...time for a census!

Age is just a number. That said, I considered bumping down a category for some unknown reason. I wonder how many actually do, even with the anonymity of the internet.

I'm glad to see that I've got some company in the geezer bracket, 40-49.

You need to have enough posts to do that here. It keeps the spammers away. You've been here for 2 years and only one post. If you start posting responsibly around the board, one of the first thing to happen will be the ability to post pictures. There are lots of other things that participation earns.

Don't be too quick to dismiss your 20's.
At some point in your mid 40's, you will see some hot 20-something and desperatly wish you were in your 20's again. Or you will throw your back out getting off the couch. Enjoy it while its there. It'll be gone quick enough. |

36, here. That category was farther down the list of options than I expected it to be... I know I'm not "old" but at 36, I've now been over 18 longer than I was under it. Interesting milestone.

Bear in mind the categories aren't equal. Some span 10 years, some 4 or 5, and one only spans 3 years.
