Thanks! I needed some input that was NOT from a scholarly journal. I thought this would be an interesting way to go.

All done. So I see you're trying to find a link between violent video games and violent people

For the record, although I'm generally a pacifist, I do know kung fu.

Survey taken though I am not sure I am assisting you much. I enjoy a wide variety of games from the tame [pac-man, galaga, the sims], to as violent as you can get.

I hope you can weed out the data to find what your looking for however I don't believe even the most violent of the games i play is directly related to any violence I project towards others in real life.

I would be interested in seeing the final draft of your paper when you complete it though if you care to publish it here or provide a link.

Thanks all. No, the PC is not listed as a "console" I see what you're saying though. Perhaps I'll add that option (as a recovering PC gamer myself, lol).

The research I've done so far reaffirms my personal belief that there is no causal relationship between violent games and real life violence. Gee... big surprise!

The only reason I even made mention is because your survey said "Video-Game Based Research Paper"

Not Console-Game

Leaving out PCs, Arcades, Phones, and so on.

Just trying to give you a larger target area.

Well, I do have the iPhone. And an "Other" box. But I added PC as well.

The final question might be better with a "how often" rather than a "have you ever".

I answered "no" but in all honesty, I have at least once in my life, so I should have said "yes" (but it was years ago, so I ignored it)

Just another side note here. When i stated the "consoles" I have played games on some of them I did not own. However i played a lot of those games using console emulators on my PC [err i mean ... i don't pirate stuff ..cough cough], so I assume that counts as playing those games.

Oh well i assume if not my one survey won't skew your results.

Also as for the intellivision I was happy as well. I remember playing baseball, that tank game, snafu, lock-n-chase I still have the old console, also the atari 2600 with games. I also have an old vic20 with text based cartridge games. I love hooking them up sometimes to reminice, though most are easier just to play using emulators on the PC instead of lugging the equipment out.

I paused at that as well. I am sure most of us have exhibited some form of violence. Whether it was throwing a toy, pulling Mom's hair or poking a sibling. I voted no, as any violence I have performed would have been remote and before I had ever involved myself in any gaming.

Sure, feel free to post this anywhere else. I'm not concerned too much with WHERE the data comes from.

The paper looks into a causal relationship between violent video games and real world violence. It's mostly a meta-analysis, but i'm adding some first-person research as well.

And pff... doesn't EVERYONE know what an Amiga is?

And yeah, Amiga isn't something that you only see across the pond. I didn't have one, but a friend did. And yes, you did see them around the old dial-up BBS set ups... ah, getting nostalgic for BBS turn based strategy games.
