I understand that you hate it now, but given your current situation, what would it take for you to get health insurance? Will they charge you higher premiums like car insurance does if you have a history of accidents? I think they would.
Try to see if you can only get health insurance through an employer. The health insurance from my employer ... sucks. I had to go with a private company and haven't used it yet after 9 months. |

It costs me $62.30 per month to insure myself for medical. After having approximately $80k in medical costs last year, I would say it was well worth the payments. I would consider myself a relatively healthy person, some people would opt to avoid the insurance under my circumstances. I could never have predicted the heart rhythm abnormality I experienced left untreated, I am doubtful that I would have been able to continue working.

I have Aetna HMO. I pay $350, for me and my son. I'm not exactly sure why I have them, but they were recommended to me about five years ago and I have real complaints yet.

Medicare, since 2003.
I remember when our former president wanted, a 10.6 % cut in Medicare reimbursements, back in July of 2008. I have witnessed many doctors opting out of this system, in the last three years. Medical 'costs' keep rising - the amount of government paperwork seems to be written with the purpose to obfuscate and discourage both medical providers, and their patients. |

I agree. My last regular job included navigating through this system for clients. We had week long training sessions on how to do it without getting the paper work kicked out of the "system." How the average person is suppose to understand it is beyond me.
