Anyone know a lot about blood pressure?

So I've always had really good BP. Pretty much poster boy for the average 120/80 (+or- 5 for me). But I've always had issues that would point to BP (tired, dizzy, etc). So I decided to take my BP standing as well. The sys dropped like it was supposed to and my pulse increased to make up for it, but my dia stayed the same (like 76 for both times). Anyone know if that is normal?

The machine I used is high quality and averages out 3 tests. So I did a total of 6. In other words I doubt the results are wrong.

Sitting avg 127 76 71
Standing avg 107 76 106

I'm no doctor but after doing EMT training and being in the hospital setting this is a classic case of Orthostatic Hypotension. When going from a sitting to a standing position the systolic will drop to make up for the lack of blood flow to the upper region of the body. You actually lose 700 mL of blood from the thorax when standing up so it triggers mass vasoconstriction to bring blood back up to the core organs i.e. brain, heart, lungs.

I don't know if the diastolic not changing is normal but a 20 mmHg difference in systolic is a significant difference. How old are you? Are you taking any diuretics, blood thinners, anti-depressants or MAOI's?

If the problem persists just go see your physician.

So it is low! I thought that kind of drop was normal. I'm 24. I'm taking an SSRI. Does that drop my blood pressure?

Thanks! I'll bring this up next doc visit.

Yeah. It can do that. Good idea to mention it to the doc.
