Traffic "Warning" tickets
 

Ok ok, ya, I just got a warning ticket for doing "dougnuts" in a parking lot. Not that I actually did a doughnut, I just fishtailed a bit to see how the AWD in my new Subaru handles under such circumstances. As far as I'm concerned, it's important to know how to control your car when things go sour on the road. Much better to get a feel for your vehicles limits in a safe area with no other vehicles around... Unfortunately, the cop didn't agree. I'm just curious if anyone knows how I can find out if a warning shows up on your driving record in Ohio. Has anyone ever had one affect their insurance rates? I had one years ago in Indiana and never heard from it again. I've never had a ticket before though and am a very safe driver on the road.

As a side rant, I find the Ohio concealed carry laws to be really shitty because I'm a law abiding citizen who is statistically less likely than the average joe to shoot at a cop, but once the cop pulled my license info and realized I have a CCWP, he was practically hiding behind me when talking to me so I wouldn't shoot him through the door. In most states, you don't tell the cop you carry unless they ask to search you, keeps the cops from being stressed unduly. They should take the same precautions with a CCWP holder that they take with every citizen, not freek out because they know you have the legal right to carry...

He is a cop. You are a citizen. Therefore you are a criminal and a wrong doer in all cases.

That is how I've found Ohio cops while working in that north-eastern chunk of that state. (Mostly because there is so much crime, so I cant blame them.)

In PA if you get a warning they know it by your plate in the state polices records, but your insurance does not get wind of it.

That's what I was thinking for ohio, but I can't seem to find anything on the gov websites referring to warnings at all... I'm generally pretty good at looking stuff up, but this one is just hiding from me...

A warning shouldn't affect your insurance rates. Usually one ticket won't either, unless it's for reckless driving or something serious.

If you're on private property, the cop probably couldn't give you a ticket anyway.

At one point in my life I got 7 warning tickets for a broken tail-light that I had on an old car. I lied every time and said I didn't know it was out and that I would get it fixed first thing in the AM. Never did anything about them and my insurance rate never went up.

Your side rant doesn't make sense to me. Where I come from, if a cop pulls you over you are required to tell them you're carring a concealed gun if you are. The fact that you didn't would make pretty much any cop nervous. He was simply taking the precautions he is trained for.

Depends on the state. Generally a good idea, but not legally required most places. And in some cases, it's none of their business.

The whole point is that the cop doesn't need to know that I have a gun unless he is going to search me. It does not provide him with any added safety (speaking statistically because I'm statistically less likely to use a gun on an officer than the average non CCWP citizen). Therefore, it only serves to unsettle the cop and make him more likely to shoot me being that he knows I may have a gun. My point is that you should not be required to tell him about your gun, and it should not show up in the traffic database. I have no problem with it showing up if he specifically searches for it to make certain that my ccwp is valid.
