what will you do with your unwanted presents?
since its Boxing day and most presents are open by now, i cannot imagine how many unwanted presents there are out there.
you said you loved it, but deep down you'd love to get your hands on that reciept so you can get a cash refund. im sure ebay will be inundated with unwanted presents, as will shop owners. so what will you do with your unwanted presents? for me i got 3 things i wanted, so i wont be ridding myself of any presents this year.

I won't know until our family's Fake Christmas at the end of January what's going.
But I regift the good things that I just couldn't use or didn't want. Everything else goes to the kids I work with or the older folks in Hospice for birthdays or when they're stuck in the hospital. Or the homeless shelter, thrift shop that benefits some charity. I used to be a pack rat. I'm trying not to be.

Just got back from visiting with the family. I got several useful, or thoughtfully personal gifts. All keepers!

I find honesty is the best policy. I got two duplicate gifts this year -- two new crock pots, and two new sets of cookware (no more hand-me downs!). I'm keeping both sets of cookware, because I can't bear to part with either; one of the crockpots was from Magpie's mom, so I just let her know that I'd already gotten one, and she has offered to return it and get me a rice cooker instead.
It's a subject that needs to be handled delicately, but it prevents the possibility of bad blood down the road.

It's not so much unwanted as something I wont use very much at all. I got a Red Wings ball cap but I almost never ever wear hats. It'll probably go in the closet and come out once or twice a year at most.

Luckily, I rarely get gifts I hate and can't recycle.
What I mean is, if I can't use it but it's a nice gift, I'll give it to someone else. Some people don't think it's right to do that but I don't see a problem, why should I keep something that will just be extra clutter in my house? If I have someone I can give it to who I believe will like the gift, I don't see why not. The only gifts I find hard to recycle are hideous, useless things, like for example, a garishly decorated porcelain figure. I hate those things and can't bring myself to give them to someone else.

My sister bought me a sexy nightie from VS....which is wierd because Im single at the moment. I thought about taking it back for something I would wear more often but then decided to keep it....who says you have to wear it for someone else, right?

Fortunately my family is aware that some gifts don't fit or not wanted. They almost always leave the tags on or at least just clip the actual price off and leave the bar code. If I wanted a cash refund I could get it. I have one blouse that I got that didn't fit. The number size is mine but I'm guessing it was bought in the juniors section because it fits as though it was made for my 8 yr old daughter and not an adult. That will probably be exchanged for a clothing item in my size.
Everything else was what I wanted. I got a springform cake pan that didn't work so well with my cheesecake recipe but I will have to try it with another bakery and see how it works. Otherwise it will just sit with my other unusual baking pans until I'm in the mood to experiment. As for IF I had gotten something I didn't want and couldn't return it to the store, I might consider if anyone else I know would apprecient such a gift and if it would get back to the gifter if I regifted it. If there's no solution by that route I may donate it to St Vincents in town and save the donation reciept for taxes.

I'd like to punish my brother for getting me the Tom Jane version of The Punisher.
He got it in the discount bin, so there's no returning it. Looks like it's here to stay. Unless I can regift it.
