Who do you think is the Worlds greatest Hero?

taking from americas greatest hero...

so who do you think is the worlds greatest hero?

now i dont want this to get ugly, so we're going to leave religion out of this. no God is not the greatest hero in this thread..neither is Jesus, Buddhah, Mohammad , Moses etc.

yes they were great characters, great personalities that shaped the world and influenced Billions. But for the sake of order in here, lets keep it that way.

i felt the need to say that there are many heros everywhere, even ordinary people all over the world, not just in the USA... so who is your World hero?

it could be anyone you know. it doesnt have to be a celebrity.

My Hero is my father. he saved my life. im forever indebted. how can he not be my hero?

Maybe Norman Borlaug?

He is an agricultural scientist. He used agricultural science to reduce world hunger. He has been credited with saving a billion lives. He won the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Gold Medal, the Padma Vibhushan, and the Nobel Peace Prize.

EDIT: I may be off-topic. Am I restricted to people I know?

Why are you already stipulating rules on the opinions of others' views of who a hero can be and who cannot?

If Christ is a hero to some, is it fair to disregard their admiration because he is too easy and/or controversial? I can understand the potential conflicts you are trying to prevent by some who argue the merits, importance, existence of God and his prophets, but it seems disingenuous to rule them out entirely just to avoid disputes.

Also, to clarify on the nebulous parameters of the thread, are we to offer insight on The known world's greatest heroes, or those within our own sheltered existence?

I think leaving out religious figures is quite alright so we can get a sense of who we would like to become. Jetee, have you never wanted to become like someone other than a divine figure? Like someone who you have known and met or heard of and been toched by their work??

I want to become a better version of myself, mainly influenced by mother Teresa, I know she's an easy pick but her life work has inspired many of my goals to be and want what I want. Out of her most selfless acts, the irony starts here, I have become the most confident person I could ever have been. God bless her soul.

Sami Levy, he is not a man who is well known.
But, he is a hero to m.
Great mentor, energetic guy.
I wish he was better known.

1) its it my thread and i can stipulate whatever rules i choose. it wont stop anyone from posting what they think. if you want to tell me that jesus is the worlds greatest man, then you can do that. so long as you give me someone that isnt a religious figure.

2) if you want to start another thread on the world greatest people that includes religious figures then so be it. i have no problem with that either. i just see a thread that includes religious figures as one that will degenerate ito a farce. and its not my intention. this isnt tilted politics and its not tilted philosophy.

and to answer your query - if you think alf from melmac is the worlds gretest hero..or marvin the martian..yes you can mention them. i see superman has already come up.
