abortion and death penalty in the same thread???
actually, I don't want this thread to be any kind of argument about the two topics. I was just wondering how people feel about BOTH of them. From the people I've talked to, the majority of them are either for the death penalty and against abortion, or for abortion and against the death penalty. I always just thought this was kinda weird. Maybe I just meet weird people, I don't know. That's why i made this poll. To avoid confusion of definitions I consider being against the death penalty as wanting to outlaw it. I consider being against abortion as wanting to outlaw it (all in american terms). I don't really care what you think of my definitions, I think they'll do just fine for this poll
I'm for the death penalty and against abortion. Again, please don't put much else besides where you stand on both, there are other other threads to do that. Thanks

I don't really care about abortion. The one where they wait forever then yank the baby out and jam scissors into it's skull is unsettling, but otherwise I'm fairly indifferent to the idea. Death penalty however I'm all for. I am working on an inmate combustable engine, thin out our overcrowded prisons and stick it to the oil kingpins at the same time.

I'm definitely pro-choice, but there are only a few crimes that I see as being death peanalty-worthy, and even then, there has to be proof beyond a shadow of a doubt, murder, rape and child molesting being the crimes worthty of a death penalty. In fact I think torture should be legalized for child molesters.

I voted for the second choice, but IMO there are specific circumstances where abortions can be justified (although not the only solution, they can be justified). Abortions are the easy way out, it is the way for quitters and has beens. I realize it isn't easy raising a child but you take that chance whenever you have sex (especially without protection).
For the most part, abortions are for those who want a second chance because they screwed up...the only problem with abortions is while your improving your life, your destroying a tiny child's life. Very tough decision |

I'm not so much pro abortion, more pro spend-the-money-on-education-instead-of-arguing.
Big no on the death penalty...

death is death.
I wouldn't say I'm "for" either one. But at the same time I can see where they are necessary. I'm not going to take away the right for a woman to choose. And there are times where a person has gone beyond humanity. Life is a complex situation, there are no absolutes. Last edited by rogue49; 06-30-2003 at 07:36 AM.. |

yatzr,
It is difficult, if not impossible to control a thread once it's been released to the world. They tend to take on lives of their own. Personally, I am prochoice and anti-death penalty.

Pro-choice, anti death penalty. But only because there's better punishments for criminals than death.
