Help me find a University

so im seriously thinking about going back to school to do some more studies. my preference is via correspondence, so that i dont have to jetset across the globe every few months..id rather leave that for the real holidays!

i graduated a good 6 or 7 years ago now, and have been itching to study for a while. ive just been tossing up what to study.i graduated with a Bachelor of Building in Construction Management, but have gone into the commercial aspect of the construction industry where i think i have found my niche. ive always excelled at the law subjects, so going into construction law is a possibility. i currently lead manage the commercial/quantity surveying team for the company i work for, so i could go down that road and get a QS degree or something similar. Ultimately id love to do an MBA in Project Management.

im looking for any decent university with fees that arent exhorbitant, and fairly well priced.

are there any reccomendations for US universities? are there any pitfalls that i need to look into? what are things for non US citizens need to do to be able to apply? anything would help right now.

looking at starting next year sometime, dependant on fees and availability.

no preferances right now..will start to narrow down over the next few weeks.

While I don't have any specific universities for you to look at, make sure that the university program you choose is accredited. This generally happens at the larger universities by rote but because you are wanting to do via correspondence, it is vital you make sure. Some universities will allow you to 'write' your own graduate program. You would figure out the course of your study with and advisor. This would allow you to tailor your course of study.

Many American universities ask that the GRE (graduate record examination) in order to begin a graduate/post bachelor program. If you go the law school route, there is a good chance you will have to take the LSAT (law school admission test) to begin a law degree.

Good luck!

Have you looked at University of Phoenix? They have an MBA program, they do online study, they seem reasonable.

actually i got recommended Phoenix University just yesterday by a HR Manager i met through some friends. of course University of Pheonix is well known all overthe world, so its an obvious choice.

ive also been recommended to do a dipoloma in project management which is a few weeks intensive course at University of Technology Sydney, and after that all i need to do is 3 units from the MBA course and im done.

id rather a short intensive course than one drawn out over 3 years.

thanks cynth.. ill look it up.

law would be my last preference for now. somewhere down the track im thinking construction law consultant, but thats 10 years down the line. the last thing i want to do is get back into the books and not enjoy my life.

i stumbled across a list by Wall Street Journal of the top 25 MBA courses in the country. heres the top 10

The Wall Street Journal's Executive M.B.A. Rankings - MSN Encarta

1 Northwestern University (Kellogg)
2 University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)
3 Thunderbird School of Global Management
4 University of Southern California (Marshall)
5 University of North Carolina (Kenan-Flagler)
6 University of Michigan (Ross)
7 Cornell University (Johnson)
8 Columbia University (NY Program)
9 University of Chicago
10 Duke (Fuqua)

ECU has an online MBA program, as well as a construction management program.

Crazy

Kansas State University

Good communications program, mid size town, very 'collegy' though...

On the plus side, if you student teach you get free tuition, and some spending cash.
If you don't, it's only ~12,000 year for out of state students.

One bedroom rents in town run from $400-$600 per month (for nice places)

Plus you get to hang out with me! You know that's the best part... right?

(oh, but you do have to tell people you're living in Kansas... unless you lie)
