I picked once a week. Because I work shifts sometimes I talk to them several times a week and sometimes not at all, but on average I'd say once a week. We didn't get along all that well when I was living under their roof, but since I've moved out we get along quite well and from time to time I'll just pop by to say hi (they are only like a 10 minute walk so if they aren't home it's not a real waste of time) and catch up.

After spending 15 years in the workforce I decided to take a three month sabatical - my job is market driven and unforunately no one's driving anywhere. My thought - what better place then to go back to my hometown. I was able to rent a place close to my parents so I have daily contact with them, something I haven't had since I left home a long time ago.

Before I took my sabatical I communicated with my folks every other week. Now its every day.
