Chocolate Lovers get less love from Chocolatiers = Less Chocolate
Quote:
I'm never a fan of changing recipes. I think that it is a matter of integrity to the product and brand to stay with it as a matter of longevity testament. Otherwise really you aren't selling the same product, it's a variant, 1.2 version or some other. Recipes change for things all the time based on available product, the challenge is that the consumer isn't supposed to know the difference. I already don't like American chocolates as much as I prefer European chocolate. Thankfully I can get Euro chocolate here in NYC easily. what do you think of this story? Can you tell the difference?

This makes me sad.
Goes to show, Hershey's is not a quality chocolatier. Godiva and Ghirardelli wouldn't consider such a move.

I sorta feel violated. I'm feeling kinda sad about it, actually. I figured it was just... lower quality chocolate. I never figured that it wasn't chocolate at all.

Good find Cyn. I tend to purchase the "high end" chocolate too but who knows, maybe they have changed their recipes too.
I have reduced my chocolate consumption as of late so I can't be sure, plus I have started getting into dark chocolate.

One of the troubles with the changing of recipes can be absolutely deadly. Must I read the label ever single time? If you have severe allergies to foods, yes you do. I know of someone who loved a certain cookie, he would buy it all the time, always had them on hand. Trouble was he started having hives and anaphylactic reactions. After going through several ER visits, seeing an allergist, having further testing on his allergies etc, he was stumped. Each day he would carry benadryl, epi-pens and Zyrtec as his armor against whatever was battling with him. One day it occurred to me to check the label, it was changed containing an assortment of ground nuts. Damn cookies nearly killed him over a changed recipe.

It's funny that none of the bars listed are really that desirable. I still like Hershey's Kisses and regular old Hershey's chocolate bars, and they have not changed. But I do miss the old foil wrappers. I like Baby Ruth's but I hope they have not tampered with the full size bars. BTW, I also like Ghirardelli chocolate, but a good Hershey's bar tastes real fine.
