Holy Farglesnot!

what the heck does that mean? i've heard it as an exclaimation in the same manner as "holy shit!" but trying to look up the term "farglesnot" on wikipedia, google, various dictionaries, etc has left me with nothing. obviously it doesn't have much in the way of a concrete "meaning" but does anyone know where it originated? thanks!

Absolutely nothing.

I'd imagine it's like saying HOLY SHITSKITTLES or any other exaggeration meant for humor. Only in this case it's avoiding the obvious word normally used. I would say it has no real dictionary meaning, since it's a made up word to begin with.

Would it be wrong for me to steal it and start using it? :paranoid:

I guess no one here reads Non Sequitur with any regularity.

These are older, but they were published recently.

Gocomics.com: Comics, editorial cartoons, email comics, comic strips

I guess all you folks owe Wiley Miller some cash. Pay up, suckas!

BTW - the man's a genius.

The first you posted was shown in jewels' post already, but it seems to have disappeared; I wonder what happened to it.

yeah non sequitur is where i first heard it, but i've seen it used elsewhere as well, leading me to believe that it's not his original creation (the term)... is it?

No, I'm pretty sure it is his creation. That's pretty much the point of those strips. Non Sequitur is a very popular national strip, so it wouldn't surprise me if people started using it when he first came up with it like 5 years ago. As I mentioned, the ones I posted are reruns since he's been on vacation for the last 6 weeks.
