Board Games
Firstly, I seriously contemplated placing this in Tilted Gaming, but saw that it was mainly being used for electronic gaming. So...
I'm quite addicted to board games. (along with all other kinds of games) When I say this, I mean 'non-traditional' board games. Monopoly is fun, along with Risk, but I find that other games such as 'Settlers of Catan' are much more entertaining. I've been looking around for other fun ones to pick up and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I've been thinking about picking up Vegas Showdown and Tsuro. The ones I have are listed below. (The stared ones are games I recommend to anyone and everyone) *Settlers of Catan *Risk 2210 *Axis and Allies *Carcassonne *Betrayal at House on the Hill (Due to huge popularity and the game being out of print, this retails at around $200 last I looked, quite possibly my favorite game ever. There is hope though, my roommate is programming it into Linux as we speak) Infernal contraption Kings Gate But yeah, any suggestions would be awesome. |

I think we do have a topic on board games on the gaming forum, but i could be wrong.

I Really wish more of my friends were into board games. I'd love to play more of them and more regularly.
Axis & Allies is awesome, as is Settlers of Catan. I haven't played the other ones you mentioned, but I've seen Risk 2210 and it looked interesting. There's a game that has been sitting in our basement for some time that I've always wanted to play but I can never find anyone to try it out with me. It's called Supremacy and the impression I get is that it's sort of like Risk on crack. But I've never played it, so I don't know! Oh, other games by Gamemaster are good too. We have Fortress America which is a decently fun game, but definitely not as cool as Axis & Allies. I'd really like to play Shogun sometime too.

I got introduced to Settlers by one of my classmates in rabbinical school. Awesome game! I like several versions of Risk okay, they just take a long time to play....
Personally, I am a fiend for Scrabble-- I play it in both English and Hebrew. With English Scrabble, my house rule is that if it appears in the Oxford English Dictionary, you can play it, which makes for a sprightly game. I used to be a Medieval Literature Major, and one of my mom's PhD's is in English Lit, so she and I occasionally play Scrabble with the rule that we can only use words coined before 1750. That's a tough game. I like Trivial Pursuits, also. Useless knowledge is my primary asset, so I do pretty well at games like Trivial Pursuits (or Jeopardy, if they would ever call me).

We've been playing Catan, with almost all the expansions, and Carcasonne recently, but also:
Starcraft boardgame Shogun (or Wallenstein - same game really) You might wanna try that out?
