woot, free stuff, cheap stuff and free mp3s
So, does anyone not know about woot.com and the other major deal sites?
First of all, download the wootalyzer to get up-to-the-minute updates on many of the sites (shirt.woot is a personal favorite). Next, check out music site. Every Friday they have 5 albums for $5/each, and along the right side, they offer new free songs every week. You have to use the Amazon downloader, but it's pretty unobtrusive. Also, Amazon's and Lightning deals, despite being available through the wootalyzer, are worth checking out pretty regularly. They vary greatly from department to department. Some deals are really awesome, some very practical, many pretty lame... but always worth looking at. |
I've spent more money than I care to tally up at the moment at Woot.
Highlights: 2 pairs Wireless Sienhauser headphones Two pair noise canceling Phillips headphones One pair awesome headphones for workk that I don't remember the brand of Sansa 2gb mp3 player Sansa 512meg mp3 player Screwdriver sets 3 LED flashlights 6 FRS radios Ferrari carbon fiber stopwatch 12 Solar powered yard lights 7.1 Surround Sound card 5.1 Surround sound speaker set 3 2gb microSD cards Video card Video capture card for PVR 5 t-shirts from shirt.woot Hmmm, I'm sure there's a bunch more that I'm forgetting. |
Yep, I have bought stuff from Woot, can't complain other than there isn't enough Wifi for me to completely utilize my Nokia 770.

Woot used to be awesome about 1.5 years ago, but it has taken a turn for the worse and continues to spiral out of control. I used to buy something every other week off of woot, but I haven't bought anything in over a year now. Their deals used to be "stay up until 2 AM to get in on the action" status, but now I usually check it whenever I get a chance. Their deals today don't even touch the deals they used to have.
Same thing with techbargains.com - that site used to be my absolute favorite site ever, but now it's just filled with trash links to "under the table" sponsored sites. Sorry, but 5% off any purchase $1500 or more is not a "hot deal." All of their bargains are just repeats or rehashs of previous ones, over and over :( I remember woot.com had the Logitech wireless playlink thing I use for my xbox 360 - creates a wireless signal through radio frequency using two small boxes. Plug one box into your xbox, the other end to your switch/router, and boom - wireless connection. Woot had it for $14.99. That's a deal. Techbargains used to have some crazy deals too. I got my current router off of techbargains for $9.99. It's a Linksys wireless router, brand new - at Staples! In-store! They used to have stuff like that all the time on the front page. Now it's just "save $10 off $150 purchase at reebok.com" and stupid shit. Oh well. |
No one has mentioned shirt.woot.com!
That is a easy money killer, and where else does 10 bucks get you a shirt shipped! |

The first thing I do every morning is check woot, shirt.woot, and what the Amazon Goldbox items of the day will be at Zappdeals.com. Other than that, I don't really have any suggestions except having some luck on ebay.

For the outdoorsy folk: http://www.steepandcheap.com/ They often have fabulous deals on things like Timbuktu bags for people who aren't so adventurous.
|
I check http://slickdeals.net/ regularly. I've never purchased anything through them though.
|
i spend a LOT of money at slickdeals, dealcatcher.com, and dealnews.com
|
http://www.cheapassgamer.com is a good place to look for cheap ass games.
