195lbs? With one hand? I hit the gym four or five days a week and I'm nearly certain I couldn't do that with either hand. I can bench that, no problem. But squeeze it with one hand? Yeah, I don't think so.

I don't know Redjake, so?

Well, currently I can do the 140 pounds gripper about 20 times with my right hand on a good set. So 195 pounds once should be about the equivalent of 140 pounds twenty times, right?

BTW Redjake is my twin IRL and we are very similar so if he can close it then I probably can too. Ha ha ha

As said previously, most people who go to the gym on a weekly or even daily basis can't close the No. 1 which is 140 pounds. It is definitely quite a feat to close a No. 1, much less a No. 2. It takes a tremendous amount of grip strength to close these.

I would think if you can do the #140 model 20 times, then yeah you probably can do the #195 once. I might be able to do the 140 version a few times, 20? I sincerely doubt it.

They don't have any of these down at my gym so I don't think I'm going to find out anytime soon how much I can squeeze. Though I admit I'd be interested in finding out.

Yeah, but by the time I have them shipped to Mexico and pay the tax they'll be closer to $80ea.

I spoke with a friend this afternoon, same guy that pointed me in the direction of my gym. He has a set in Kilos- 30's 40's & 50's. I did the math real quick and the 50's are 110lbs. Bottom line I won't be doing the 195's anytime soon. I did 11, almost got 12, out of the 50's with my right and about 8 with my left. My forearms were freaking on fire.

I borrowed one of the 50's. In a couple days when the fire's out I'll see about doing some more.

Man, my forearms are still sore from yesterday. I noticed just holding my coffee cup this morning took effort.

Maybe you could tape them up with waterproof white first-aide tape. I had a set of dumb bells back in the states that had a painful diamond pattern cut into the metal bars. Tore the shit out of my hands, I wore gloves for a while but got tired of trying to find where the dogs hid them.

Sometimes those damn dogs hid them in drawers, crazy canines.

I'm not so sure I want to meet someone who can crush 365lbs with one hand.

I'll be here all week. Enjoy the shrimp, I hear it's good.

Seriously how many people do you think can close 365lbs with one hand?

And honestly I'm not sure anyone could crush a tennis ball, like you I'd need to see that. And yes I'd like to examine the tennis ball before hand.

The fucking No. 2 didn't come today. It's sitting in the main office of my apartment complex. There is a huge atmospheric vortex swirling around in the sky above the main office - I'm pretty sure some galactic shit is going to go down tomorrow.

I can close the No. 1 27 times in a row now - massive improvement from just a couple of weeks ago, where 18 seemed to be my limit.

Tomorrow I will try out the No. 2 and let you guys know the result.

Oh, also, in the mall we found one of those "crush machines" where it measures how strong your grip is (very difficult to squeeze, the bars barely even moved when I squeezed as hard as I could), and I almost broke the machine - it blew past Iron Gripper, Robo Gripper, Gorilla Gripper and I hit the maximum grip strength on the machine - 250 - CHAMPION GRIPPER!

I shook the hand of one of my old friends yesterday. I remember in high school when I shook his hand it was extremely overwhelming and seemed absolutely massive and uncontrollably tough. Yesterday when I shook his hand I gave it maybe 30% of my grip force and was "in control" of the handshake. His hand is way bigger than mine but I felt in control using only 30% of my grip strength. Another 1+ for progress!!

I personally never felt the need to be "in control" of a hand shake. I'm a little lost on this concept. I know I don't like it when people try to crush my hand and I don't do it to others.

In many industries/corporations/professional entities if you shake someone's hand and you don't do it firm then you're shooting yourself in the foot. Where I grew up (rural NC) you were openly mocked if you didn't have a firm handshake. When interviewing for jobs, one of the first businesses I met with talked with me about a possible position. I shook the hand of the guy and he said "what's wrong with you? shake harder than that, come on." The problem was I was shaking as hard as I could. From that point forward I wondered if everyone else that shakes my hand thought that also.

When I shake men's hands at my job if it's limp fish or relatively weak then I immediately get a notion that they're not strong willed and don't have a backbone. I know this isn't always the case, but like in the "does the watch make the man" thread, your viewpoint of someone is what it is regardless of the person's true personality. Watches make an impression to many people and handshakes make an impression on many people.

I will admit something though: half the reason I started using handgrips was because when men shook my hand and it was a downright crush, I felt helpless about it. It is really annoying when a man with a strong grip shakes your hand and you shake back and can't even remotely match the shake. Well now I can and it feels damn good. I haven't been annoyed or embarrassed by another man's powerful shake since I started the gripper.

My father taught me early on to give a firm hand shake, but not to crush the other guy. I'm from the pacific northwest, Oregon. Maybe it's a regional thing.

I used to work in parole and probation. When meeting other officers, attorneys, judges- whoever, it was always a firm hand shake but not a "hey, I'm in control of you" thing. However often when I'd meet a new "client" they'd try this "I'm going to crush you" BS. That's why I started placing my index finger in the middle if the other guys wrist. They can squeeze as hard as they want, it's not going to hurt you and you can still give a firm hand shake.

Guys I have some terrible news.

The No. 2 came in today and I have rendered my grip on both hands useless for the next 24 hours. I can't even close the No. 1 now.

I shredded open the package, flexed out my fingers, and gave it my all - closed it 90% shut on my first try, but something sprained in my right hand and now it's going to have to recooperate. I can close it about 60% shut with my left hand.

This thing is just absolutely brutal, a totally different league then even the No. 1. I am now seriously starting to wonder if the No. 3 is realistic if you aren't a body builder.

I will continue to post progress. Enjoy the video!

I too hate vicegrip handshakes with the tough look in the eyes. But this thread makes me smile, and now I kind of want one too. Not a hugely athletic one, but maybe a basic one. I'm a drummer, and I'm curious to see if this will change my control over the drumsticks at high speeds.
I do feel sorry for your respective wives' nether regions, though.

Also, Bruce Lee used to toughen up his hands by moving them through jars or gravel. Maybe it's worth some looking into.

Holy cow I really want to try it out now. I figured you wouldn't be able to close it but now my curiosity is even higher. It's hardcore that you can close the No. 1 25+ times and not even get the No. 2 once!!!!!!!

I gave my hands a full day of rest and came back today strong. I feel like I can close the No. 2 a tad more than the first attempt, but not anything visible. My hands started going tingly again quicker today, so I think my hands need a good long rest for the weekend - I left all of my grips at work and am going to take it easy until Monday.

I think I will have the No. 2 shut in a month's time.

Ok I just tried Redjake's No. 2 for the first time yesterday and I have now declared war against the son of a bitch. Good god how can it be this hard. It's only 45 pounds more than the No. 1!!!!!! I can get it within an inch of closing it, sometimes a little bit closer, but I'm still way far off. I hereby declare that by August 18th 2008 I will CLOSE THE NO. 2!!!!!!!!!!!

Good news everyone: I am 2 millimeters closer to being able to fully close the No. 2 without cheating (unlike 90% of the other stupid youtube videos out there).

It hurts so bad. I can't even describe how bad it hurts. It feels like someone is pulling your hand apart. From what I've heard, however, the average is around 6 months for being able to close the No. 2 after "graduating" the No. 1. I've only had it for 2 weeks and can nearly close it. More veins have started bulging in my forearm (Popeye region) and I have thick, disgusting callouses all over my fingers because I don't use pussy powder.

My own No. 2 CoC came in today. First try I got it 1/8th of an inch from closed (3 millimeters). I will have it shut by August 18th (my self-imposed deadline). I may even have it closed with 1-2 weeks.
