We have a new Forum! Check out Tilted Marketplace!
As a posted proposal in Propose a "TFP Bill" we now have a new section called Tilted Marketplace
No sooner did the forum get opened we had an immediate poster! We're coming up with reasonable and sensible rules for the forum so what you see there now will change over time. Thanks all for helping make suggestions to make this a more useable space for our community members. |
i love the idea of TFM...
BUT... i know this may sound cynical, but how will tfp police stuff like people selling their wives because they are lying bitches and crap like that you'd see on Ebay? or are we just hoping it doesnt happen? or are things like that ok on TFP? just curious as to how the evolution of TFP comes about. i dont recall the birth of a particular forum here, so it should be interesting to say the least hope things work out. |
Im hoping they took the suggestion in the proposal and its only available to a certain level of membership...I would think that would keep that crap out
|
Is the forum public or private?
(cross-posted with Shani; basically, the same question as her) |
same levels that can access to members playground have access to this
|
A thing we do in the Trading Forum of another place I post in is the rating system.
Every time a successful transaction is completed, both users PM a moderator to let them know. The moderator then writes their names in a separate thread in the forum. If the name is already written, each subsequent transaction adds a plus next to the name. I think it would be useful. I know it is useful at the other forum I post. Adds to the trust meter. I don't know if I can link to it, but here is the thread I'm talking about (you can jack some rules from it too :p): http://forums.modojo.com/showthread.php?t=68124 |
This is absolutely fantastic. Even without a rating system, I trust the members who post in Member's Playground more than some random guy on ebay with 500 positive ratings. Hurrah!

and can be used to track how many transactions took place and see if everyones paying their 1 dollar donation after every sale. i think its a swell idea! |
I don't think $1 idea is reasonable. Not for the donation part, but for the static sum. If the transaction is $10-15, yeah. I can see myself donating $1. But what if it's only $5? I think it would be more reasonable to set a percentage or let the user decide for him/her self.

it's not a question of a static sum, but it's not really worth sending someone $.35 in Paypal... I'm not talking about transaction, auction, or listing fees, I'm talking straight up "How about making a donation?" And yes, the marketplace is only available to those that are able to access Members Playground. If we find that it is still problematic, we can adjust it to the same levels as our Exhibitions. |
Well, then that I can agree with.
|
So glad this idea is being given a try. I hope it works out!
|
Uhh -- perhaps you could remove the "Icons" section from Marketplace?
It's a bit strange that I can tag my new sale as "XXX" or "Brunette" or "MILF". Maybe "Tease" ? |
Incentives!

I thought it was funny. I ALMOST tagged my post with the "Toys" icon.

This is an awesome idea! I have had stuff in the past that I wanted to sell on here but did not want to create a thread on.
How about large stuff? Like right now I have a van for sale in the Calgary area, and if anyone here knows anyone that is looking for one its for sale. Can I put stuff like that up? |
Can I give stuff away?
|
free is a great price!
|
Cool :)
|
Please don't give away your love to just anyone...

A *big* suggestion of mine, that has worked wonderfully on other forums.
Have a sub forum within the market place. "MEMBER REVIEWS" In here after a completed purchase or sell, each person will make a thread. ex: "Halx" sold "Cynthetiq" something, its shipped, and received. Halx creates a thread named "Cynthetiq" and puts a review of the member. "Buyer paid quickly, would do business again." Once the items are received and are as they should be, Cynthetiq creates a thread "Halx" and puts his review of Halx. "Seller shipped fast, items perfect." Any future member to do any business from either of these will just simply reply in the threads. (searching will be required eventually) Mods also can join threads for those who didnt search properly. This also works for keeping track and publically letting people know if we have bad dealers or buyers. Its like ebay's system yes, but more personal. My .02 |
can you PM me a link to those other forums i'd like to see the example they have....

thanks... that's some compelling information. I'm going to spend some time looking a bit deeper so that I can make a good formal recommendation to the rest of the staff and community
|
Very cool, I look forward to seeing its evolution!

"Nothing illegal." How about firearms within the US? There are rules regarding shipping them (from seller's licensed dealer to buyer's licensed dealer) and fees involved in that, but they aren't "illegal" everywhere.. just a handful of states. Selling internationally is kind of a no-no anyway.
|
merleniau, for as much as I support firearms and the sale of them, I dunno if the TFP is up for that possible responsibility. Kind of the same reason that we don't allow pics of <18... even if it's your kid. It's not illegal, but why give someone even the option of MAYBE blurring the boundary.
But then, I'm not an admin, so we'll see what they say... |

We have a considerably active Tilted Weaponry community, and I know I would feel better selling anything to someone on TFP, so I'm sure it would come up eventually. |
Great idea! How about adding locations to the thread titles? Once there start being lots of threads, it would be nice (particularly for non-US members) to be able to see quickly which items are available to them.
Perhaps some kind of standard format for thread titles would help keep things tidy and make the forum easy to browse. |

Hmmm, I LOVE this idea. Maybe we could add tags like the TB has, but for location (USA) (Canada) (North America - if you're willing to ship US/canada/mexico) (UK) etc.? It'd be nice. Or even tags for item types perhaps with the locale put in the thread title... (Games) (Electronics) (Misc) and so forth? I'd be willing to make a set of tags either way. Can we do this? :) Here are some sample: COUNTRIES: http://www.xepherys.net/tfp/icons/xi_USA.jpg http://www.xepherys.net/tfp/icons/xi_canada.jpg http://www.xepherys.net/tfp/icons/xi_UK.jpg CATEGORIES: http://www.xepherys.net/tfp/icons/xi_Electronics.jpg - Electronics http://www.xepherys.net/tfp/icons/xi_videogames.jpg - Video Games |
I'm not sure that this version of vbulletin allows for forum specific post icons. There is a mod that allows one to do it, but it isn't a feature out of the box. I'll research the mod and see if it is something that requires alot of work on this version.
|
as far as region tags: they should only be there if it's a restriction. like if I want to only sell to canadian, then i would use the tag but for the rest, we should just mention shipping costs if someone is interested.
and for the other item tags: I'm up for it! if i can clearly see items I do want or don't want, then it's a plus. But really not needed. another thing i want to point out: with some of the other forums that we requested, there was a limited amount of use for them so they were closed. I hope this one doesn't go that way. I will have use for the forum in the near future so please don't shut it down!! it's too new to have a large amount of usage on it... |
Cyn, if there is any coding that needs to be done, I'm experienced and currently have some time on my hands... let me know if I can help at all.

I'm not 100% sure on the details but I do know there is a need for vbulletin designers and theme coders. If you can do this PM me. |
