Howabout, your first post in exhibition (including replies to other people's threads) must be pictures of yourself? Once you've posted yourself, then you can comment on everyone else.

Also: Remove the time constraints and sticky all the various challenges...they're a great entry point for people who might be new to exhib.

what about us that are digital camera-less?

Seconded.

I suspect that the "Nonsense is not included in Latest Posts" decision was based on annoyance at Bones. He is long gone.

or at least the allowance to customise the "New Posts"view to list whichever fora I want to see?
This was tried about a year ago, for some reason it didn't work correctly. See New Posts development... for details on how it went down. I'd like to see it return as well.

I would like to put a new tool to the mix here:

I propose that we add background colours to the text that way when someone uses a LIGHT colour, they can also add a dark background to the text that way the people using the lighter coloured skin for the forum can still read this.

And yes, I'm pointing this completely at the MODs who use yellow writting. I'm on vbulletin3 so my background is white or light light blue. Yellow is invisible on it.

can I get a vote!??

There were complaints because it has been one of the faster-moving forums and tended to overwhelm the rest of posts for people who don't post in there.

I use a Insignia, so I'm used to light colors being readable. Regardless of votes, I'll bring this to the attention of the mod squad and try to make life easier for everyone.

This is being fast-tracked through for convenience. Expect to see a BBcode for text background color in the next day or two, and expect people to gradually start remembering to use it over the next couple of weeks.

This is more of a suggestion than a bill. If you post in Tilted Suggestions we try to accommodate or at least explain why we can't.

I'm quite happy to make up bbcodes :) It's been fun. You should check out all the ones that I've made over the past few months.

tested....

thanks for the assist MSD

I have a style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: yellow" and a font color="#000000" (black)

this insures that it's readable in all colors. When I checked just the background color yellow then the darker ones couldn't read it easily.

I purpose a small addition to the Quote feature. Often I'll see someone quote a previous post in a thread and I'll find myself scrolling back looking for that post that was quoted. On another forum I visit regularly, There is a link to the original post in the quote. It says "Originally posted by XXX" Then after has a little .GIF that is the link to the post. I've been using this feature on the other forum and It's come in handy, especially in multi-page threads.

In the Edit box it looks like "[ QUOTE=Whoever;315786]" with the number at the end being the link to the original post.

Ref:http://elitistjerks.com/f31/ Here's the forum I was talking about, Almost all of the threads include a quote.

That's a function of the version of vbulletin. They are using v3.6.8 which has that ability built in. A good suggestion, but I don't believe I have ever seen any function like that within the mods available for the version we're running.

MSD 06-23-2008 09:48 PM

Bring back quick quotes. This isn't a bill, it's a guy with a pitchfork and torch demanding.

You'd have to rewrite the quote function to do it. The current function grabs the number of the post quoted, maybe it can be modified to grab the post number and wrap a url tag around the "<name> posted ..."

Since it's already generating text, can the post number be stored as a variable and turned into a URL tag?

I don't think I've ever seen someone get so excited over placeholder text before.

If you behave maybe I'll post quick brown fox later.
