Water that isn't Wet?

http://exn.ca/video/?video=exn20050209-waterless.asx

A new fire suppressing compound has been created that appears just like water, but that doesn't conduct electricity and can put out fires easily. It can be used if there is a fire near an electronic device as it cannot damage or short out the device.

Enjoy.

Pure water doesn't conduct electricity.

Only salts which are generally dissolved in water conduct.

I imagine it'd be expensive and difficult to get 100% pure water in your fire suppressant system.

Interesting. Any idea of the cost and toxicity? Water is used because it is cheap, effective, safe, and widely available.

Wonder about this stuff?

I imagine it would replace halon and other such toxic chemicals in applications where water isn't appropriate.

I can offer no further comment, because the link doesn't work for me.

Not really, you'd need to have a large water tank filled with distilled water. Most skyscrapers use this anyways due to water pressure issues, it'd just take that extra step of using distilled as opposed to tap water.

Not too sure about toxicity, but the video said it cost about $40.00 per sq. ft. of space you'd like to protect
