From Russia With Hate
Quote:
Quite an interesting (albeit sad) video. It's like American History X, but very.. very.. real. I can't really think of what else to add, other than I think it's worth talking about this, because I had no idea Russia had such a big (and growing) problem before I watched this video. It seems like this will inevitably happen anywhere that xenophobia is allowed to propagate, and anywhere where you find disenchanted poor people who believe immigrants are the reason they can't find and maintain steady employment. As a matter or fact, I wouldn't be surprised to find this thing springing up closer to home, where poor white people with no job skills start blaming "Mexicans" for taking all their jobs, when in reality it's their inability to educate themselves and become valuable employees that is the direct cause. Texas, for one, springs to mind.

I also agree it has very little to do with the topic.

oh wow this thread is going to fracture in to an education debate real fast.
But both sides are right, theres no reason to sacrifice one at the expense of the other. Obviously we're all literate and educated enough to form legible sentences and discuss topics on this forum. LIEZX OMZ HAZ YU HERD THE NEW MANSON ALBUM!#$@# <--- what's coming out of schools today. I was saved by the graces of home schooling and learned the majority of my reading/writing/arithmetic during my 6th/7th grade years before I went back to public school. The fact is, if you slip through the cracks, and the teachers don't care to notice, no one will help educate you except your parents, that is, if they care to, have time to. I think I lucked out. I was pretty close to becoming yet another undereducated product of the public schooling system, now that I look back on it. |

i had a russian roommate for nearly 2 months and everything she said about russia was pretty fucked up. and she openly said that in moscow everything is wrong and it´s an incredibly unsafe place to be. she´s quite small but very cute so she almost never went out after dark and even during the day would keep a constant eye on her back. she told me horror story after horror story of so mny of her friends being beaten and/or raped with absolutely no provocation.

Overpopulation without growth causes problems. Immigration is another form of population increase. It benefits the rich though, so it is allowed to continue. Less property on the market, lower wages for labor and a more desperate workforce all work for them.
And it would be a good thing if they were able to work on improving their own home country. |

how do you define overpopulation?
